Fiji Weather Warning: Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Across Northern and Eastern Regions as Troughs Move In; Rotuma Also Under Alerts

Hold onto your hats, folks! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still very much in effect for the northern reaches of Macuata, Bua, Cikobia, and their not-so-distant island buddies, Taveuni, Lau, and the charming Lomaiviti group. If you’re planning on a hair day, today might be best spent in a cozy hat.

Meanwhile, a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is draping its cozy blanket over the northern and eastern sections of our beloved Fiji group. Looks like Mother Nature is pulling out the big guns with an active trough of low pressure bringing us clouds, showers, and maybe a rain dance or two until later today.

Forecast until midnight tonight:
Get ready for those strong northwesterly winds whirling through the land areas of Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti, with speeds that’ll have you holding onto your umbrellas at 45km/hr, and the occasional gust making you question your life choices at 55km/hr. But don’t worry, those winds will be easing off to a moderate to fresh breeze as the day rolls on.

Brace yourselves for some tumultuous seas, as moderate to rough conditions await those brave enough to venture out. Expect spells of rain – heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and our lovely Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

For those in the greater Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou, Serua-Namosi-Naitasiri-Ra provinces—prepare for intermittent showers, with localized heavy falls that could lead to some splashy flash flooding in low-lying areas. Who needs water parks when we have nature’s water rides?

Elsewhere, enjoy a partly cloudy day, with brief showers sneaking in during the afternoon or evening to remind you to keep that umbrella handy!

Now, let’s peek into tomorrow’s crystal ball:
A sprinkle of occasional showers and a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the Western Division makes for a dramatic weather backdrop. Heavy rain might be possible in other parts, so get your raincoat ready! Winds will vary from moderate to fresh, and the seas will be in a decent mood.
