Weather Update – The Fiji Style
Greetings, fellow islanders! It’s your daily dose of weather mucking around, courtesy of the National Weather Forecasting Centre, straight from Nadi at 7:30 PM on this fine Friday, the 2nd of January, 2026.
Here’s the scoop: a friendly little trough of low pressure is throwing a shower party in the eastern regions of Fiji – and you’re invited! That’s right, grab your umbrellas and join in the soggy festivities. Meanwhile, a breath of fresh air in the form of southerly to northeast winds is hanging around, making sure we don’t get too stuffy under all those clouds.
Now, let’s break down the forecast before you head off to start your weekend adventures.
For our Coral Coast to Navua folks, it looks like you’ll be receiving occasional showers and some heavy falls—because who doesn’t love a good rain shower now and again? The Greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu area, Ra-Naitasiri, and Serua-Namosi will also be joining the wet parade. And don’t forget about the heavenly downpours in Southern Bua, Cakudrove provinces, Lau, Lomaiviti group, Kadavu, and the smaller islands nearby! So, um… pack that raincoat!
If you’re elsewhere, you’re in luck! Expect fine weather with just a side of isolated afternoon or evening showers to keep things interesting. But look out! Those sneaky thunderstorms might be lurking, ready to surprise you and potentially contribute to flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, leave those sandals outside if it’s a flood prone zone!
Winds are swinging between moderate to fresh, and the seas are getting somewhat rough. Hold onto your hats!
Now, looking ahead to Sunday: the trend continues with occasional showers and possible heavy falls across the Coral Coast to Navua, and the Greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu area. Get used to it – it’s the theme of the weekend!
