Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 11:47pm on February 3, 2026
Attention weather watchers and cloud enthusiasts! We’ve got a low-pressure trough snuggling over the southern parts of Fiji, bringing showers and some moods reminiscent of a rainy day on repeat. Meanwhile, another trough is making its way from the northeast and it seems like it has a party planned, rolling through the group from today until Friday night—don’t worry, it comes with a side of thunderstorms!
So, here’s the forecast for midnight tomorrow across Fiji: Expect occasional showers and a few thunderstorms over the Lomaiviti and Lau groups. The cloudy skies will generously pour out rain and if you’re hanging around Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nasinu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Northern Bua, and Macuata, you might want to break out the umbrellas because heavy falls are on the menu.
For the rest of the gang? Mainly fine with just a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers and a dash of thunderstorms for that dramatic effect. Just a heads-up: things might get a bit splashy later today, especially up north where frequent showers may turn into something resembling rain. And keep those sandals high and dry—afternoon or evening thunderstorms could cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.
Winds will be moderate, shifting from the south to southwest, and the seas might feel like they’re joining the party too, but don’t worry, they’ll be moderate.
Now, let’s peek at Thursday’s fun: An occasional downpour, heavy at times, waltzing through the Northern and Eastern parts, with the rest of the group likely joining in on the wet and wild later in the day. Yes, localized heavy falls might rain on some parades, and flash flooding could be a guest appearance in flood-prone areas. Winds will continue to be moderate, and seas? Yep, still moderate!
