Weather Update
Grab your umbrellas and put on your best raincoat, folks! The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has seen fit to let us know that a pesky trough of low pressure is meandering over southern Fiji, like that relative that overstays their welcome. It’s stringing along clouds and showers, especially in the southern and eastern parts of our beautiful islands. And guess what? This uninvited guest is set to wander north, bringing its rain-filled baggage to the rest of Fiji over the next few days. So, before you start planning that beach picnic, read on!
Here’s what we can expect until midnight:
Today:
You might want to have a rain dance off—Kadavu and its smaller tiny pals and the southern Lau group are in for occasional showers, which may turn heavy with a side of thunderstorms. Add to this, the cloudy gloom over spots like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and a few more—these areas will also see some showers with the occasional loud crack in the sky. When the rain gets bold and decides to leap, flash flooding could occur in low-lying spots. Don’t worry, it’s just the clouds having a party!
Tomorrow:
Mother Nature is continuing with her shower specials – expect those occasional showers and a few scouting thunderstorms hanging around Navua-Suva-Nausori, and other surprise guests in Tailevu North and Naitasiri. As the day rolls on, those light showers might just turn into a full rain attendance, so keep that raincoat close!
Outlook for Monday:
Looks like the rain will keep rolling in with more occasional heavy falls, along with the boisterous thunder that just won’t be quiet. Flash flooding signs will be up and running for those prone areas, so if you know your neighborhood gets feisty after a rain, it’s best to be cautious!
For the specifics in your area:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: Mostly cloudy, with showers and occasional thundershowers. Expect a cozy 24°C min and a warm 30°C max.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Tread lightly through those clouds. Isolated thunderstorms could drop in unexpectedly, with a temp swinging between 24°C and 31°C.
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Don’t throw your sunblock away just yet—clouds and unpredictable showers are on the menu. Min: 23°C, Max: 31°C.
– Savusavu: Cloudy companions and the occasional thunder buddy will be hanging around. Min: 24°C, Max: 32°C.
For the less populated islands such as Kadavu and the Lau group, occasional downpours and thunderstorms are set to be the theme of the day as well.
And for our distant friends in Rotuma: With a moist northeasterly wind swirling around, it’s occasional showers galore! Minimum temps of 25°C can be expected, peaking at a lovely 31°C.
So, there you have it—Fiji’s weather forecast, where the clouds are feeling a bit dramatic, and the sun is on a short vacation. Stay dry and enjoy the dance of the raindrops!
