Weather Update: February 24, 2026

Brace yourself, Fiji! It looks like the skies are getting a bit dramatic! A trough of low pressure has decided to settle in for a little vacation over our beautiful islands, bringing along some clouds and rain as its uninvited guests. Meanwhile, the north to northeast wind is blowing through, probably wondering why it can’t get a break either.

So what’s in store until just before midnight tomorrow?

Today, expect occasional rain and perhaps a teasing thunderstorm or two over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and those smaller islands trying to have a peaceful day, along with the interior and northern areas of Viti Levu (looking at you, Lautoka through to Rakiraki), and the Lau, Yasawa, and Mamanuca groups. Elsewhere, it’ll be a cloudy affair with afternoon or evening showers and potentially booming thunderstorms. Just a reminder to watch out, as localised heavy downpours may play the role of a surprise flood in low-lying and flood-prone spots.

The winds will be moderate, possibly kicking up to fresh levels, and those seas? Well, they’re showing off their moody side too, with moderate to rough conditions.

Tomorrow should bring a little more cloud cover with some showers rolling over the interior and eastern parts of the larger islands (Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua), as well as Lomaiviti, Lau, and Kadavu. The rest of you can expect mainly fine weather with the occasional afternoon or evening shower and maybe a thunderstorm trying to crash the party. The heavy showers can still cause a stir in low-lying areas, so keep those rubber boots handy!

Looking ahead to Thursday, more clouds and showers will be lurking around the eastern and interior parts—guess they aren’t ready to leave just yet. The rest of the group will enjoy mainly fine weather, with those pesky afternoon/evening showers making surprise visits.

For our dear Navua, Suva, and Nausori residents, it’s looking cloudy with some rain and thunderstorms today. Tomorrow, expect similar shenanigans. Temperatures are cozy, with a low of 24 and climbing to a delightful 32, so don’t forget to hydrate!

In Natadradave/Korovou, it’s the same script: cloudy with showers and thunderstorms today, and a bit of rain encore tomorrow.

Sigatoka and Coral Coast will be partly fine tomorrow—just a few isolated afternoon/evening showers to spice things up. Or am I just throwing a curveball at you with those rain chances?

Now, if you’re in Nadi, Lautoka, or Ba, you can expect some rain drama today accompanied by thunder, while tomorrow waves of sunshine and just a sprinkle of rain are in your forecast.

As for the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, don’t fret; just a touch of occasional rain and they’ll be basking in a mainly fine tomorrow.

Rotuma is not escaping the rain either, with occasional rain and thunderstorms making appearances in the forecast over the next few days.

So whether you’re planning a beach day or a cozy indoor one, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the skies and be prepared for that classic Fiji weather flip-flop. Stay safe and dry, folks!
