Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 12:21pm on Sunday, March 8, 2026

So here’s the scoop: a not-so-friendly trough of low pressure has taken a cozy spot over the eastern parts of our lovely islands. It’s brought along some cloud cover and showers, proving that it really didn’t get the memo about keeping things sunny. Expect it to hang around until tomorrow, dancing with the eastern and northern regions.

Here’s your forecast until midnight tomorrow for our beautiful Fiji group:

Pretty cloudy with intermittent showers and some of those dramatic isolated thunderstorms ready to make an appearance over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and some nearby islands. In case you love the sound of heavy rain and thunder, this is your kind of forecast party.

Elsewhere, you might just enjoy fine weather—aside from the occasional tease of afternoon or evening showers, just to keep you on your toes. But be warned: localised heavy downpours might pop up and decide to flood the low-lying areas, so keep that floatie handy.

We’ve got moderate easterly winds that will play referee, but they’ll transition to a more indecisive northerly breeze later. Seas? Moderate, but don’t stake your claim on a surfboard just yet.

Looking ahead to Tuesday: expect a bit of cloudiness with showers over places like Serua, Namosi, and Navua, while the sky gives parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu some thunderous applause later in the day. All eyes are on the skies, as localised heavy falls might again mean some flooding fun over low-lying areas.

Now, specific towns are in for their own weather roller coaster:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudiness and some showers, all while isolated thunderstorms throw in their two cents. Today’s high? A scorching 32. Tomorrow? Expect a comfortable 25 to 32.

Natadradave/Korovou: The clouds are in charge today, but don’t fret; there’ll be showers and isolated thunderstorms. High? 32, and tomorrow’s forecast is a 25 to 32 repeat.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine weather is in the mood today…until afternoon showers and thunderstorms crash the party. Today’s high is 33, with tomorrow giving you a cozy 24 to 33.

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Today’s looking fine, just don’t let afternoon showers and thunderstorms throw shade on your plans. Enjoy the high of 34, and tomorrow, we stick with a familiar 24 to 34.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Smooth sailing today as fine weather reigns, with some afternoon showers on the horizon. High? 33, and tomorrow settles in at 24 to 33.

Yasawa/Mamanuca: Expect a cloudy day with showers and some impressive thunderstorms. High today is 31, while tomorrow remains steadfast with 25 to 31.

Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, and Kadavu: They’re all getting the same lovely treatment with cloudy skies, showers, and those rambunctious thunderstorms. Highs around 32 and a consistent pattern for tomorrow (25 to 32) keeps everyone guessing.

Meanwhile, over in Rotuma: A trough brings occasional rain—heavy at times—along with some cheeky thunderstorms. Rain will taper off, but don’t let your guard down. Expect a comfortable high of 30 today, and tomorrow you’ll be looking at a 25 to 30 range.

So grab your umbrellas and keep those flip-flops ready! The weather may be unpredictable, but it sure keeps life interesting.
