Weather Update from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi

Well, folks, it seems a cheeky little trough of low pressure is setting up camp just northeast of Fiji, and it looks like it’s sticking around for a bit. This mischievous weather system is expected to sprinkle some magic (or just showers) over the eastern parts of our beautiful islands until later today. And don’t forget, we’ve got a moist east to southeast wind playing tag with the clouds above us!

Here’s what to expect in our gorgeous Fijian archipelago by midnight tonight:

For Taveuni and those cozy nearby islands, it’s a cloudy day with some showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Sounds like a perfect time to channel your inner storm chaser!

Over in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, eastern Macuata, and all those delightful smaller islands, expect some cloud cover with a few showers thrown in for good measure.

The rest of us can enjoy mostly fine weather, although be prepared for a little afternoon or evening sprinkle. Just in case you’re looking to spice up your plans, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu might see those classic afternoon thunderstorms—we’re talking heavy falls, so maybe consider the waterproof gear!

Keep an eye on those low-lying areas, as localized heavy rain could lead to some flash flooding. Just another reminder that Mother Nature has a sense of humor!

Winds? Moderate, coming from the east to southeast. Seas? Also moderate, but possibly a bit sassy.

Now, looking ahead to Monday: Expect a similar scenario with cloudy days and showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, and a few other lovely locales. Other places could experience sunshine but will likely see afternoon or evening showers. And yes, the thunderstorm party isn’t over yet, so prepare for those heavy downpours!

Now, let’s break it down by location:

**Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Cloudy and showery with a thunderstorm encore this afternoon. Today’s temperatures are looking at Min: 24, Max: 31. Don’t forget your umbrella!

**Lau and Lomaiviti group**: Same stormy saga as Taveuni, with clouds and showers galore. Min: 24, Max: 31.

**Kadavu**: It’s cloud city today with showers and fits of thunder. Min: 24, Max: 31.

**Rotuma**: A trough of low pressure has found its way to you as well, bringing occasional rain, heavy at times, and some thunder. Expect those rains to clear up later. Today’s Min: 25, Max: 30.

So there you have it! An entertaining weather mix for the day ahead. Just keep your umbrellas close and your sense of humor closer!
