Here’s the lowdown, folks! An east to northeasterly windflow is hanging out over the Fiji group like someone who overstayed their welcome at a party. Just when you thought it was going to be smooth sailing, a low-pressure trough is knocking on our doors, ready to bring its entourage of clouds and showers beginning tomorrow.
Now, let’s dive into today’s forecast, which promises to paint quite the interesting picture across our islands:
For the Fiji group today: Expect a mix of cloudy periods and some showers that may come accompanied by the sassy sound of isolated thunderstorms—no need to worry, the sky’s just trying to spice things up! Areas such as the Eastern parts of Viti Levu, including Greater Suva/Nausori, Tailevu North, and friends—Interior Ra, Naitasiri, Serua-Namosi, Interior Nadroga/Navosa, Sigatoka-Coral Coast, and Navua—better grab an umbrella. The same goes for Southern Bua, Eastern Cakaudrove provinces, Lau, and the Lomaiviti group.
In the rest of the regions, you might get lucky! It’s primarily fine out there—basking in sunshine at least until the afternoon or evening when those cheeky showers and thunderstorms decide to crash your picnic. But beware! Localised heavy rain might lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas, especially at the time of day when rainbows are supposed to appear, but instead turn into rain showers.
As for the winds, expect moderate to fresh east to northeasterly breezes that may get a bit gusty, especially when accompanied by the aforementioned thunderstorms. And don’t forget that the sea might be feeling a bit moody with moderate to rough conditions.
Now, for the outlook on Wednesday: More parties in the sky with clouds, showers, and isolated thunderstorms making appearances over the Eastern parts of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, and Lomaiviti group, along with some quieter regions that will see those showers creep in as the day unfolds. Plan for localised heavy rain leading to flash flooding—pretty much the same story as today!
