Good news, everyone! The strong wind warning for Kadavu and those cheeky nearby small islands has been canceled. They can finally stop holding onto their hats for dear life!

As for the heavy rain warning that was drenching our spirits (and everything else), it has been downgraded to an alert. So, while you might still need your trusty umbrella, you won’t need to start building an ark just yet.

Now, let’s talk about our current weather drama. Tropical Cyclone Seru, a mere Category 1, is hanging out far to the southwest of Fiji and is slowly losing its strength—kind of like that old phone battery that just won’t die. Meanwhile, a pesky trough of low pressure is hovering south of Fiji and is sending in a moist northerly wind flow, proving once again that weather has a flair for the dramatic.

Here’s what you can expect for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow:

For the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti, prepare for occasional showers with some local heavy downpours and the possibility of thunderstorms—sounds like nature’s way of throwing a surprise party, doesn’t it?

For the interior and southern parts of Viti Levu (think Momi to Suva and Naitasiri and Serua/Namosi), expect fine weather for most of the day, but be ready for those classic afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms that might crash your picnic.

The same goes for the interior and southern parts of Vanua Levu (Cakaudrove province and Southern Bua)—you might want to keep your plans flexible!

Other areas can anticipate some cloudy patches with showers and a few sneaky heavy falls. Don’t be surprised if the moderate northerly winds decide to make things fresh and gusty in those shower-prone spots. And just a heads up for sea-farers: the waves are moderate to rough, so you may want to reconsider that impromptu swim.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the forecast promises occasional rain with heavy moments to keep us on our toes, plus a few thunderstorms wanting to join the party.

For our lovely folks in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, you can expect mostly fine conditions until those afternoon showers and thunderstorms roll in.

In Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, it’s more of the cloudy periods, coupled with showers and isolated heavier falls—classic “Fiji-style weather.”

Over in Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, it seems like fine weather will be around, but be wary as the evening may invite some thunderstorms to spice things up.

For Tavua and Rakiraki, expect the usual cloudy periods with some surprise showers and isolated heavy falls.

And for our friends in Labasa, enjoy those cloudy periods with some showers, but be on guard for those sneaky heavy falls.

Savusavu can expect mostly fine weather, with afternoon or evening showers just looking to crash the party.

In Lau and Lomaiviti, it’s a similar scene: occasional showers, a possibility of heavy downpours, and your daily dose of thunderstorms.

Kadavu is in for more of the same, keeping us entertained with occasional showers and heavy falls.

Lastly, Rotuma is under the influence of a moist northerly wind. Think partly cloudy with brief showers and a dash of fresh breezes. The sea, however, could be a little rough, so it’s best to keep your swimming plans in check!

So, all in all, buckle up, keep your umbrellas close, and enjoy whatever mischief the weather has in store for us!
