Good morning, Fiji! It seems that Mother Nature has decided to treat us to a little moisture bath courtesy of an east to northeast wind that’s blowing through. Just when you thought it was safe to leave your umbrella at home, a cheeky trough of low pressure is sneaking in from the southwest, bringing along a cloud parade and some showers that will really kick in starting tomorrow. So, get ready for an emotional rollercoaster with the weather!
Forecast to midnight tonight across our beautiful islands:
For the lucky folks in Navua, Suva, Nausori, and the surrounding areas, as well as eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, Taveuni, and the smaller islands – it’s a cloudy affair out there. Expect showers and the possibility of some afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Grab your raincoat, because isolated heavy downpours may crash the party, leading to some flash flooding in low-lying spots.
For everyone else on this fantastic archipelago:
Partly cloudy skies are the name of the game, but don’t be fooled; isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms are lurking around. Heavy falls are also on the agenda – possibly bringing some surprise flash flooding! So, make sure you’re prepared for the unexpected!
It’s going to be a toasty day, with maximum temperatures soaring between 32-35 degrees Celsius. You may feel like you’re in a sauna when you step outside—just remember to stay hydrated!
As for the winds, expect a refreshing moderate breeze from the east to northeast. But watch out for gustiness near those sneaky thunderstorms! If you plan on hitting the seas, they’ll be moderate, but a bit rough in some spots—maybe put off that kayaking adventure until later!
Outlook for Sunday:
Prepare for occasional rain and a sprinkle of thunderstorms in the Yasawa Group, Northern areas, and interior regions of Viti Levu. Meanwhile, the rest of Fiji will enjoy a partly cloudy sky with those pesky isolated showers and thunderstorms making an appearance, especially in the afternoon. Heavy downpours are still a possibility, which means you might need to swap your sandals for gumboots in flood-prone areas.
Specific areas will have their own forecasts:
– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms. Isolated heavy falls on the way!
– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: You’ve got partly cloudy weather, with evening showers and the odd thunderstorm to keep you guessing.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Cloudy periods will dominate your day, along with some destructive showers and thunderstorms.
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Expect some heavy rain and thunderstorms. Don’t forget your weather gear!
– Rotuma: Lots of cloudy periods with occasional showers and few thunderstorms. Keep your umbrella handy!
So, folks, it looks like we’ve got a bit of a wild weather ride ahead. Stay safe, keep those umbrellas handy, and don’t let the rain dampen your spirits!
