Weather Update

Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi! It’s 10:45 AM on this fine Saturday, January 10th, 2026. Grab your umbrellas and let’s dive into the delightful weather we’re serving up — no charge for the thunder!

Currently, we have a lazy trough of low pressure lazing around over southern Fiji, possibly contemplating life choices while spilling some clouds and showers across the southern and eastern regions. Rumor has it that this indecisive trough is planning to migrate northward, bringing its wet-and-wild party to the entire Fiji group starting tomorrow. Get ready for some moisture!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow:

Today: Expect those occasional showers — heavy at times — to strut their stuff especially over Kadavu and surrounding smaller islands, as well as the southern Lau group, including Yasayasa Moala. Cloudy periods are forecasted, with more showers bringing along a side of isolated thunderstorms with a chance of heavy falls (and perhaps a few dramatic entrances). For the brave souls in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu North, Naitasiri, Interior Ra, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Taveuni, and surrounding smaller islands, it’s the same gloomy party, with a surprise of afternoon or evening thunderstorms that could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Tomorrow: Yep, you guessed it! Showers and thunderstorms will remain the stars of the show with isolated heavy falls over several regions including Navua, Suva, Nausori, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. The show will get a bit more frequent as the day goes on, with clouds leading the way to rain — which is probably just the atmosphere’s way of getting everyone cozy.

Outlook for Monday: More occasional rain, heavy at times, with surprise thunderstorms over Navua, Suva, and the gang. And just like a well-rehearsed routine, this rain is also likely to cause some splashy flash floods in certain areas.
