Fiji Weather Update: Showers and Thunderstorms Expected with Flash Flood Risks for April 2025

Weather Update Alert!

Attention, lovely inhabitants of Fiji! The clouds have gathered at the National Weather Forecasting Centre — a gathering of meteorological majesty — where they’ve bestowed upon us their predictions for the next 24 hours. So grab your umbrellas, raincoats, and possibly an inflatable floatie; it’s about to get interesting!

Tonight, your weather forecast is somewhat of a mixed bag: expect occasional showers over the Tailevu North area (that’s Natadradave to Korovou if you’re feeling fancy). Meanwhile, Suva, Nausori, Navua, Naitasiri, and much of the eastern parts of Viti Levu will find themselves in a cozy blanket of cloudiness, showering down on them intermittently. Don’t feel left out, Rakiraki, Kadavu, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, yes, even Lau and Lomaiviti – you’ll get some of that rainy love too. But don’t worry, if you’re somewhere else in Fiji, you might just be fine, except for the typical random pops of afternoon or evening showers that seem to play hide and seek around here.

Heads up for the brave who are keen to embrace nature’s fury! There’s a moderate chance of isolated thunderstorms, and with them, heavy rain showers might make an appearance. Those low-lying and flood-prone areas could be in for quite a splash—let’s hope you haven’t left the windows open! The winds will be moderate from the easterly direction, so don’t be too shocked if a wayward flip-flop goes flying past you.

Now, fast-forward to Wednesday: cloudy periods and some showers are still in the agenda for interior and coastal regions of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and others along that beautiful coastline. However, keep an eye out for those surprise showers in the afternoon or evening. It’s like a weather lottery where you might just win either sunshine or a delightful downpour!

In Navua, Suva, and Nausori, expect cloudy days ahead—surprise, surprise, with showers to boot. And for our sun-seeking friends in Sigatoka, Coral Coast, Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, well, you folks should hold onto your sun hats because it sounds like the sun might peek out from behind those clouds, followed by some shower antics in the afternoon or evening.

Over in Tavua and Rakiraki, the clouds and showers will keep you guessing, while the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups will be holding out for sunshine… well, with just a hint of those cheeky afternoon or evening showers. And, Labasa, it seems the skies are on your side too, staying fine aside from the brief moments they decide to shower you with a sprinkle.

Savusavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti, prepare yourselves for cloudy periods and light showers—keep that rain dance practice sharp.

Finally, for Rotuma, you folks will see moderate easterly winds and an assortment of cloudy periods with brief showers to keep things lively.

So there you have it, folks—prepare for the wet and wily weather, stay dry if you can, and don’t forget to enjoy the beauty that Fiji has to offer, come rain or shine!
