Weather Update

Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi

Good morning, weather wizards! It’s Sunday, January 26th, 2025, and as we gather around our virtual crystal balls, here’s what Mother Nature has in store for us.

Currently, we’re under the influence of our trusty easterly winds, as smooth as a good cup of coffee. But hold onto your umbrellas! There’s a mischievous trough of low pressure to the west trying to sneak its way into our sunny paradise starting tomorrow. It’s arriving just in time for Tuesday’s big weather shindig!

Here’s your forecast until midnight tomorrow for our beautiful Fiji group:

– For the Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Ra, Naitasiri, eastern Macuata and Cakaudrove provinces, as well as Kadavu, Taveuni, and our smaller islands: Expect some cloudy periods, with showers sneaking in to say hello. Looks like these showers are planning to become quite the regular visitors starting tomorrow!

– For the rest of Fiji: It’s looking fine and dandy most of the day, but don’t forget to pack your raincoat because afternoon or evening showers and a few thunderstorms could crash the party. Isolated heavy falls might just join in, too—so let’s keep an eye on those low-lying areas; nobody wants a surprise splash zone!

Hot and humid weather will be sticking around, with temperatures reaching a toasty 31-34 degrees Celsius. Remember: hydration is key unless you want to become a human raisin.

As for the winds, expect moderate easterly ones that will switch things up to northeasterly tomorrow. And if you hear gusty winds rumbling, that’s just the weather showing off where those heavy showers and thunderstorms are. Ah, nature, always putting on a show!

Here’s the scoop for Tuesday: The clouds will thicken, and folks everywhere may witness occasional rain and some rather lively thunderstorms, particularly later on Monday. Those moderate east to northerly winds will continue to keep things interesting, with seas staying moderately gentle—good news for our sea-faring friends!

Now, let’s break it down region by region:

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy with showers, becoming occasional. Simple as that!

– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Looking mostly fine, but those pesky afternoon and evening showers might bring the thunder. Keep that rain hat nearby!

– Sigatoka / Coral Coast: Mostly fine, except for those afternoon and evening surprises—thunderous applause is expected.

– Tavua / Rakiraki: Cloudy with occasional showers. Make sure to dance around any rain puddles!

– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Fine weather with a side of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

– Labasa and Savusavu: Cloudy with some showers. You see the trend here? Don’t forget that raincoat!

– Lau and Lomaiviti group, and Kadavu: Similar vibes with cloudy periods and some showers making an appearance.

– Rotuma: This island’s getting the thunderous treatment as well, with cloudy periods, showers, and isolated thunderstorms—nature’s own version of a surprise cake!

So, rejoice, weather enthusiasts! Plan your outings wisely, and if you hear thunder, consider that a friendly reminder from the sky to check the window before heading outside. Stay dry or enjoy a refreshing rain dance, folks!
