Weather Bulletin Alert
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45am on a fine Wednesday, March 26, 2025
Situation: A weak trough of low pressure has decided to take a leisurely stroll over the eastern parts of the country. This means we can expect some cloudy companions and showers to join the party over the next few days.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Cloudy spells will be a recurring theme in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Showers will become heavier and more frequent, accompanied by thunderstorms from tomorrow – talk about a dramatic entrance!
The rest of you can expect a mix of sunshine with a splash of afternoon or evening showers. Just brace yourself for some enthusiastic thunderstorms with heavy downpours over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Those looking for a little “splash zone” thrill may want to stay clear of low-lying areas, as persistent heavy rains could lead to flash flooding.
Moderate east to southeast winds will make for a bit of a breezy day, while moderate to rough seas might have boats feeling a bit like they’re on a roller coaster.
Outlook for Friday: Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with the possibility of heavy downpours will dance through the eastern half of Viti Levu, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, Cakaudrove, and southern Bua. The rest of the islands can expect those same charming afternoon or evening showers, along with the ever-dramatic thunderstorms.
For specific areas:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: Prepare for a cloudy day with showers popping up. Expect the afternoon or evening thunderstorms to keep things exciting, with heavy falls expected.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: A fine day, except for a couple of pesky afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon thunderstorms will crash the party with heavy downpours.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine until those pesky afternoon or evening showers show up, followed by thunderstorms that’ll bring heavy rains.
Tavua/Rakiraki: Enjoy the sunny moments, but keep an umbrella handy for those afternoon showers and thunderstorms expected.
Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Fine weather, but anticipate afternoon or evening surprises in the shape of showers and thunderstorms.
Labasa: Enjoy the sunshine for now, but don’t let your guard down – afternoon storms are on the horizon.
Savusavu: A little cloud isn’t getting in the way of your day, but afternoon storms will bring their signature heavy downpours.
Lau/ Lomaiviti: Cloudy with some showers, but tomorrow can expect an uptick in the rain department with thunderstorms too.
Kadavu: A cloudy day awaits with some showers. Brace yourself for the thunderstorm excitement as we move forward!
Rotuma: Currently under the influence of a moist easterly wind, things are pretty fine apart from brief showers, but tomorrow things get a little more in-depth – with occasional thunderstorms expected.
So get ready, folks! The weather has its own plans – a little rain here, a little thunder there, and who knows, it might just turn into a spectacular performance.
