Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 11:38 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025
What’s happening? It turns out a rather moody trough of low pressure has decided to show up from the west, bringing along some companions – a little cloud cover and the occasional shower. This entourage is expected to hang out in the southeastern and interior parts of our beautiful Fiji islands until later tomorrow.
So, what’s cooking for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow? We can expect a few showers and the odd isolated thunderstorm to crash the party over Momi-Sigatoka, Ra-Rakiraki, and various interior spots, including Nadroga/Navosa and Tailevu North. Meanwhile, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and the lovely Taveuni will also receive their share of moisture. Don’t fret too much, though! Elsewhere, it’s just some cloudy periods with a sprinkle of showers. Do keep an eye out for possible flash floods in low-lying areas thanks to some isolated heavy rainfalls. The showers should start to pack their bags and clear out from the west later tomorrow.
We’ve got moderate northeasterly winds that will switch to a more casual southerly to northerly vibe later on. And let’s not forget those waters – moderate to rough seas might give your boat a bit of a shake, so hang on tight! Prepare for some cool nights ahead.
Outlook for Tuesday: Expect some cloudy periods along with brief showers smattered over Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and other locations. But don’t despair; most other areas will shine bright with mainly fine weather.
Now, let’s break it down for specific regions!
For our friends in Navua / Suva / Nausori: Prepare for showers and the potential for an impromptu thunderstorm party. But good news – showers are expected to depart from the west later tomorrow. Those cooler nights are here to stay!
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Cloudy periods with some showers may keep you indoors, but don’t worry, those clouds will also make way for sunshine later. Cool nights ahead!
For Coral Coast/Sigatoka: Thunderstorm enthusiasts will be treated to some showers and their delightful sound effects. Just like everywhere else, expect the showers to depart later tomorrow with cool nights to follow.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Looks like it’s thunderstorm time again over Rakiraki, with cloudy times ahead for the rest. Expect showers to clear later and, you guessed it – cool nights!
For Natadradave/Korovou: More showers and the possibility of thunderstorms are in the cards before they clear out later on. Enjoy those cool nights afterward!
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: It’s cloudy with a chance of showers but fret not; sunshine will come knocking later. Cool nights are also on the schedule.
For Labasa: Showers and thunderstorms will be the headline act here, but they should also clear out later. Keep those cool nights in mind!
For Savusavu: Showers returning with some thunder puts you in the club today. They’ll make their exit later on, followed by cool nights.
For Lau and Lomaiviti Group: Expect some lively weather with showers and thunderstorm fun, but relax; they will clear by tomorrow. Cool nights will be your companion!
For Kadavu: Showers and thunderstorms are on the guest list, but those will also be wrapping up later. Fingers crossed for those cool nights!
And finally, for Rotuma: Buckle up as a STRONG WIND WARNING remains in effect! A trough of low pressure is toying with the island, bringing southeasterly winds of 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas and showers are on the horizon, with occasional thunderstorms adding to the drama.
Outlook for Tuesday: Occasional showers and a few thunderstorms will keep life interesting for you.
Remember to grab an umbrella, keep your raincoats close, and enjoy the cool evenings ahead!
