Weather Update Alert
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 9:47 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2026
Good news! The severe thunderstorms that were trying to party in the northwestern part and interior of Viti Levu have packed their bags and canceled their plans. So, if you were considering an evening dance under the rain, it’s safe to put away those galoshes!
Current Situation: A gentle southeast wind is chatting away over the group while a rather shy trough of low pressure is expected to hang around in the southern and eastern parts tomorrow – don’t worry, it won’t steal the show!
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today:
Expect mostly fine weather to greet you, with only a few brief showers crashing the party in the interior and eastern regions of the larger islands. However, be ready for some unwelcome guests: isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms bringing possible heavy rain over the interior and southern parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Tomorrow:
It looks like the clouds will be making more appearances. A mix of cloudy spells and some showers are expected over places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, and stretching through the southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and the nearby smaller islands, along with Lau and the Lomaiviti groups. Don’t worry; it’ll be mostly fine elsewhere, except for some sneaky isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms looming around. The winds will be moderate from the southeast, and the seas will be just moderately moderate (is that even a thing?).
Outlook for Saturday:
We’ll have a repeat performance with that cloudy backdrop and some sprinkles over Kadavu and the smaller surrounding islands, as well as brief showers in our favorite spots like Serua-Namosi and Suva. The atmosphere seems to enjoy leaving us guessing, especially with isolated evening thunderstorms and likely heavy falls trying to steal the spotlight again.
