Weather Alert: The Sky Is Getting Drama-Queen Levels of Cloudy!
Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
In a twist of fate, the severe thunderstorm warning for the northern half of Viti Levu and eastern half of Vanua Levu has been dumped like last year’s smartphone! So, breathe easy folks; the stormy drama has taken a backseat.
But don’t pack away your umbrellas just yet. We’ve got a weak trough meandering over southern Fiji, serving up a side of clouds and showers. And to keep the plot thick, another trough is looming just northeast of Fiji, ready to march in and bring showers and thunderstorms from tomorrow through Friday night. Don’t you love a good weather plot twist?
Tonight’s forecast for the Fiji group suggests:
Expect cloudy periods sprinkled with some showers. Isolated thunderstorms are on the table, especially in the popular hangouts like Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, and Yasawa. Enough rain is expected to give you a proper downpour, so waterproof shoes would be the smart choice.
Elsewhere, the sun will be playing hide-and-seek with clouds; you’ll have some lovely fine weather, but do keep an eye out for surprise afternoon or evening showers, potentially with a booming “surprise!” from the thunder.
On Thursday, we can expect the rain to get serious—heavy at times with a few thunderstorms crashing the party in the northern and eastern parts of the group. Flash flooding might debut in low-lying and flood-prone areas—so maybe trade that picnic for an indoor movie marathon!
As far as winds go, expect a moderate push from the south to southwest, alongside seas that are feeling pretty moderate too.
Here’s a sneak peek of tomorrow’s weather through various locales:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Enjoy the clouds, but showers and some thunder are on the menu. Temp: Min 24, Max 33.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Mainly fine till the evening hits—then thunderstorms might crash the party. Temp: Min 23, Max 34.
– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Clouds will be hanging around like that friend who just won’t leave. Temp: Min 23, Max 33.
– **Labasa**: More clouds and showers than you can shake an umbrella at. Temp: Min 23, Max 33.
– **Savusavu**: Fine weather until those sneaky afternoon showers come for a visit. Temp: Min 24, Max 33.
To our friends in **Rotuma**: A heavy rain alert remains in effect. Expect a rainy rendezvous with possibly dramatic thunderstorms as well. Temp: Min 25, Max 30.
So, keep those sun hats handy, but make sure to have that umbrella on standby as we navigate this ever-so-capricious forecast! Stay dry and enjoy the show!
