Weather Update

Greetings from your local weather guru, we’re serving you the latest weather scoop straight from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi. Brace yourselves, as we have a low-pressure trough that’s more persistent than that friend who overstays their welcome. This cloudy, rainy party will be crashing over Viti Levu and meandering eastwards across the islands until tomorrow.

As far as today goes, expect the sky to play host to some occasional rain and the occasional bold thunderstorm, especially over Momi-Sigatoka, Ra-Rakiraki, and a few select regions around the interior. It might feel a bit like a soap opera – cloudy with a chance of drama everywhere! And yes, those isolated heavy showers could be overachievers, so keep an eye out for potential flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Just like it’s trying to figure out the wind direction, the weather seems to be going through a bit of an identity crisis – moderate northeast winds will transition to southerly by later today. Sea conditions are moderate to rough, so if you were planning on a leisurely splash, you might want to reconsider and dive into land activities instead. Nights are going to be cool enough to convince you that you might need a fuzzy blanket!

Now let’s take a quick look at the fun forecast for tomorrow (Tuesday): Expect cloudy periods spiced up with brief showers over places like Eastern Macuata and the Lau and Lomaiviti group, along with some soggy company on the radar. But fear not! The rest of the islands will mostly be basking in the sunshine, while the breeze swings from the northwest to southerly. Just remember, if you’re around, keep those bathers close and watch out for a cool evening that’s perfect for snuggling!

In Navua, Suva, and Nausori, roll out the umbrella for occasional rain and those persistent thunderstorms which will clear by tomorrow. If glasses, goggles, or raincoats were a fashion statement, now would be the time to strut your stuff!

In Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, you’ll experience cloudy periods with some showers and the occasional thundercloud joining the ensemble. Similarly, expect the rain to take a hike from the west by tomorrow.

Everywhere from Tavua to Natadradave, you’re also on the rain radar today, and those cool nights will have you reaching for the blankets as the rain starts to bid farewell.

Ah, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, where cloudy skies flirt with showers and possible thunderstorms! Get ready for them to be swept away by momma sun tomorrow.

Labasa and Savusavu, you’re also included in this wet affair, with good news that conditions will clear up by tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Lau and Lomaiviti group gets to join the rain club; heavy shower zones will ease shortly.

As for our friends on Rotuma, a strong wind warning is still in play, so keep your hats secure! Southeast winds are howling at 20 to 25 knots and could ease down a bit later.

So, dress accordingly, grab that umbrella, and maybe even prepare for some unexpected stormy encounters. Just remember to keep it breezy, cool, and fun out there!
