Here’s the forecast for today across Fiji, and remember, an umbrella is never a bad idea, even if it looks like a sunny day!
Get ready for a patchy sky as we greet a partly cloudy day, with some showers looking to make an appearance over the interior and coastal areas of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca groups. It’s a little party in the clouds, but only a select few will get wet.
Elsewhere, we’ve got fine weather inviting you to hit the beach or the hammock – unless you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, as there could be an isolated afternoon or evening shower or even a surprise thunderstorm to keep things interesting. Sudden downpours are great for a dramatic entrance, but watch out for localised and persistent heavy falls that may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas – your backyard might just turn into a water feature.
Expect moderate to fresh easterly winds that shouldn’t knock your hat off, but be careful near the water; the seas are predicted to be moderate to rough, just like a relationship when it gets rocky!
Looking ahead to Tuesday: the weather is set to keep things partly cloudy with brief showers popping up over the same interior and coastal areas. The rest of you can continue to enjoy fine conditions, with just a reminder that isolated afternoon or evening showers could sneak up on you. Prepare your best rain poses! Moderate to fresh easterly winds will stick around, along with those moderate to rough seas.
Forecast highlights for your favorite spots:
Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect partly cloudy skies with a few brief showers that might make you wonder if you should get your rain dance ready.
Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: It’s mostly fine except for those pesky isolated afternoon or evening showers and the occasional thunderstorm saying hello.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Enjoy a fine day but keep an eye out for those pesky afternoon showers—the showers have a knack for being fashionably late!
Tavua/Rakiraki and Labasa: You’ll have some fine moments, but don’t celebrate too early—isolated afternoon showers and the occasional thunderstorm may crash your sunny picnic.
Yasawa/Mamanuca Group: Partly cloudy vibes with a few showers trying to steal the spotlight.
Savusavu: Partly cloudy with some showers too—don’t worry, they won’t steal your sunshine!
For the beautiful islands of Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Mostly fine, with those brief showers just trying to make their cameo appearances in the afternoon or evening.
And for Rotuma: An easterly wind blows over the island while you enjoy some fine weather apart from brief showers. Even the sea is moderately friendly today.
So grab your shades, stay alert for any surprise showers, and enjoy the day, but remember – just like life, the weather can be unpredictable!
