Weather Update
Fresh from the desk of the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 3:30 PM on Thursday, the 29th of May 2025. Hold onto your hats, because here comes the Fiji forecast!
For our friends in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, as well as Kadavu and those charming smaller islands of Lau and Lomaiviti: Expect a bit of a mood swing today with some partly cloudy skies and the occasional fleeting shower. Tomorrow, however, it’s like the clouds got a memo to gather, so prepare for a good drenching.
For the rest of Fiji, you’ll mostly be enjoying the sun’s company, apart from the odd grumpy shower crashing the afternoon or evening party. Make sure to keep your cooler stocked; it’s going to be cool at night. We’ve got moderate east to northeast winds keeping the air fresh, but don’t worry, they’ll switch to a predominantly southeasterly direction tomorrow—you know, just to keep things interesting.
Looking ahead to Saturday: If you’re in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua or Cakaudrove, pack your umbrella. Saturday will be all about cloudy periods and some hopeful showers. For the rest? Plenty of sunshine, with a possible surprise visit from an afternoon or evening shower. Don’t forget that cool night; it’s like the weather’s way of whispering sweet nothings in your ear.
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: It’s a similar story—partly cloudy with some brief showers today, but that cloud cover will ramp up tomorrow. And yes, you guessed it: coolness at night.
For those soaking up the sun in Sigatoka and along the Coral Coast: You’ll probably be sitting pretty with clear skies, though those pesky isolated showers might make a cameo in the afternoon or evening. Still cool at night; it’s the weather’s way of saying, “Sleep tight!”
For the Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba areas: You lucked out with bright weather, but don’t be surprised if a sneaky afternoon or evening shower appears. Just like those surprise visits from relatives—unexpected but not unwelcome.
For Tavua and Rakiraki: A touch of cloudiness today with a few brief showers over Rakiraki, but sunny skies are on the agenda elsewhere. Expect coolness when the sun says goodbye at night.
For Natadradave and Korovou: You might see some part clouds and brief showers today, with more clouds creeping in tomorrow, but, oh boy, it’s going to be cool when the sun packs it in at night.
The Yasawa and Mamanuca group: Simply put, you’ve struck gold with fine weather. Enjoy those cooler nights; they’re practically begging for snuggly blankets!
For Labasa: You’ll bask in bright weather today, but let’s not forget the possibility of those sneaky afternoon or evening showers. Yes, they’re all the rage lately! And good news – cool nights await!
For Savusavu: Enjoy some partly cloudy skies today before the clouds decide to hang out longer tomorrow. Cool nights are on the entry list too!
In Lau and Lomaiviti: Today is a mix of sun and the occasional brief shower, with a cloudy takeover tomorrow. It’s cool at night, which means a perfect excuse for hot cocoa!
For Kadavu: Enjoy your partly cloudy skies and brief showers today, with clouds rolling in tomorrow. And yes, cool nights ahead, truly the cherry on top!
And finally, for Rotuma: A pesky trough of low pressure is lurking, bringing along some clouds and the potential for thunderstorms. Moderate easterly winds are in play, and seas are feeling just moderate too.
Outlook for Saturday across all regions shows cloudy periods and some showers making the rounds—just another reminder to keep that umbrella close!
So there you have it! The forecast may sound a bit tumultuous, but hey, in Fiji, every cloud has a silver lining, and that silver lining can sometimes be the sun returning just when you need it!
