Situation: We currently find ourselves under the gentle embrace of an east to southeast wind flow, like a well-meaning but slightly annoying hug from a friend. However, a rather grumpy trough of low pressure is sneaking up on us with clouds and rain, and it’s scheduled to set up shop on Sunday. So, you’ll want to keep your umbrellas close and your flotation devices even closer.

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for Fiji:
We’re looking at a partly cloudy sky with brief showers giving Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and our lovely smaller islands, including Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti, some moisture to quench their thirst. Everywhere else? Mainly fine, basking in the sunshine like a content cat. Expect cool nights that might just make you want to pull out that unused blanket from the back of the closet. Winds will remain moderate to fresh – just enough to help you forget about your last bad hair day. Seas will be moderately rough, but don’t worry; your flip-flops should still hold onto you!

Outlook for Sunday: Ah, Sunday – a day for relaxing and… oh wait, it’s partly cloudy with some showers expected for Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Lau, and the Lomaiviti group. For the rest of us? Mostly fine. But be advised, the rain and thunderstorms will be making a grand entrance from the west later in the night – just in time for dinner. So, don’t forget to invite your raincoat!

Area specific details:

– For Navua, Suva, Nausori: Expect a mix of cloudiness with a few showers—perfect for practicing your umbrella twirling skills! Cool nights are on the horizon.
– Nadi, Lautoka, Ba: Mainly fine and feeling like a tropical getaway. Cool nights ahead, but a rain and thunder spectacle will make an appearance later Sunday, so make sure your outdoor plans are flexible.
– Coral Coast/Sigatoka: A few brief showers will join the partly cloudy festivities. Cool nights ahead – a total win for blanket lovers!
– Tavua/Rakiraki: Partly cloudy with occasional showers. Rakiraki may get a little more wet, but the rest are well-prepared for a cool evening.
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Mainly fine… for now. But keep your eyes open for rain and those dramatic thunderclaps coming Sunday night.
– Labasa: A lovely fine day followed by a cool night. Just slim chances of rain sneaking in later.
– Savusavu, Lau and Lomaiviti Group: Partly cloudy with showers, but cool nights await. Don’t be surprised if Sunday rolls in with rain and thunder.
– Kadavu: Some showers for the island—nothing catastrophic; save those big waves for Monday!
– Rotuma: Heads up, Rotuma! A STRONG WIND WARNING remains, as a lively southeasterly breeze is making things interesting. Expect rough seas and some rain, shaking things up in your weather routine.

So, whether you’re planning on lounging at the beach or cozying up indoors, just remember: Fiji weather always has that element of surprise!
