Weather Update – 18th December, 2025
Good morning, Fiji! It’s that time again when we check in with Mother Nature’s mood swings. The heavy rain alert for the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti groups has been officially sent packing. It seems the rain clouds are off to siesta for the day!
Here’s what we’ve got brewing in the atmospheric pot: A splendid little trough of low pressure has decided to set up camp just north of us, while a refreshing southeast breeze is swooping through the islands.
Expect some occasional showers today, possibly bringing along isolated heavy downpours and a sprinkle of thunderstorm action mainly over the Eastern and Interior parts of Vanua Levu (that includes Cakaudrove and Southern Bua, Taveuni, and those charming smaller islands, along with Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups). Eastern and Interior regions of Viti Levu (from Serua-Namosi towards Navua, Suva, Nausori, up to Tailevu-Ra) should keep their umbrellas handy too!
The rest of Fiji can enjoy a slightly cloudy sky with a chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. But be forewarned! Those thunderstorm heavy falls may just love the low-lying areas a bit too much and lead to some flash flooding. So, keep your wading boots nearby, just in case!
Winds are expected to be moderate but will throw in a gust or two when those thunderstorms dance through our neighborhoods. The seas? Well, they’re feeling moderately rowdy today.
Now, onto tomorrow’s encore performance! More of the same: occasional showers paired with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms over the same regions. For the rest of you, expect a mix of clouds, some sprinkles, and maybe a thunderstorm to liven up your afternoon.
Here’s a peek at the specifics for your area:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect a mixture of occasional showers with hefty falls and some thunderstorm drama. Today’s range: Min 23, Max 28.
Natadradave/Korovou: The same script as Navua, with a similar forecast. Yes, it’s that exciting! Min 23, Max 28.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Partly cloudy over there! Just a few showers and some afternoon/evening thunderstorm theatrics. Min 23, Max 30.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Again, partly cloudy with afternoon/evening showers and a thundershower or two. Min 23, Max 31.
Tavua/Rakiraki: A hint of clouds with a pinch of afternoon showers and thunder! Min 23, Max 30.
Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Keep it partly cloudy and enjoy a few showers with thunderstorms later. Min 23, Max 30.
Labasa: Skies offer occasional showers and thunderstorms. Min 23, Max 30.
Savusavu: Occasional showers putting on a solo performance with heavy falls. Min 23, Max 29.
And for the beautiful folks of Rotuma, be prepared for some active weather – occasional showers heavy at times, possibly a dramatic thunderstorm, and gusty winds. Min 25, Max 29.
Take it easy out there, and remember—rain or shine, it’s always a good day for a laugh! Stay safe, stay dry, and keep smiling through those showers!
