A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR WHOLE OF FIJI GROUP. For more information, refer to Special Weather Bulletin issued by National Weather Forecasting Center at https://www.met.gov.fj/alerts/
Situation: A moist northeast wind flow prevails over the Fiji group. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure is expected to approach the group from the west. Associated cloud, rain and showers are expected to affect the group from later today till Thursday.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
– Occasional showers over Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Isolated heavy falls possible.
– Localised heavy falls may lead to flash-flooding of low lying areas.
– Partly cloudy elsewhere.
– Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms developing from the west later today and gradually spreading to the rest of the group.
– Moderate to fresh northeast winds. Winds becoming northerly from later today.
– Moderate to rough seas.
Outlook for Thursday:
– Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over Lau and Lomaiviti group. Rain easing to showers later in the day.
– Cloudy periods with some showers over the Northern Division, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra.
– Cloudy periods with brief showers elsewhere.
– Cool at night.

– Situation: A weak trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers affects Rotuma.

– Outlook for Thursday: Mainly fine. Min: 25°C, Max: 31°C
Notes:
– A heavy rain alert remains in effect across Fiji. Monitor updates and heed local advisories, especially if you’re near low-lying areas that could flash-flood.
– Winds mainly from the northeast, turning northerly later today in many places. Seas are generally moderate to rough, so boat captains should plan accordingly.
– Nighttime coolness is on the way in some areas, so worth layering up after sunset.
