Fiji Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert for Southern and Eastern Viti Levu, Kadavu, Taveuni and Nearby Islands; Nationwide Heavy Rain Alert in Effect

Weather Alert: Don Your Raincoats, Fiji!

Issued from our trusty crystal ball (that we call the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi) at 10:45am on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, we bring you news that’s wet and wild! A heavy rain alert is currently drenching the southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu, and the ever-so-slightly soggy smaller islands, along with Taveuni, Lau, and the Lomaiviti group. In short, if you’re dressed for sunshine—think again!

What’s the scoop? Well, there’s a grumpy little trough of low pressure parked over us, accompanied by clouds and rain that seem to be having a lazy Sunday. They’re so cozy that they’re planning to spread their mischief across the rest of Fiji starting tomorrow. So, make sure your umbrellas are at the front door, ready for action!

Forecast from now until midnight tomorrow:
Today: Sporadic rain showers will be swirling around like a dance party—heavy at times—with a side of thunderstorms for those down in Sigatoka, Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and further afield in Ra, Kadavu, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti. Southern Bua and Cakaudrove might just get some cloud cover with their occasional sprinkles, leaving the rest of us to contemplate the arrival of grumpy gremlin-like clouds later.

Tomorrow: The rain party continues! We’re treating you to more occasional rain—yep, heavy at times, with a potential thunderstorm surprise. Prepare for moderate to fresh southeasterly winds turning to a sneaky northerly whiff. Seas will be feeling a bit moody too, so maybe leave the diving until they cheer up a bit!

Outlook for Monday: Looks like the rain wants to become friends with the showers. There’s a slight chance of isolated heavy falls accompanied by some rollicking thunder over most areas, so consider it nature’s very own symphony.

Now here’s the juicy details for various regions:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Rain’s coming to visit today, heavy at times with a thunderstorm guest. Max temp today: 29. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 28. On Monday, expect the rain to mellow out a bit.

– **Natadradave/Korovou & Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Same rainy fate with a max of 29 today, and similar tomorrow. Monday is the day for lighter showers.

So there you have it, Fiji! Prepare for rain, stay cozy, and don’t forget your umbrella as you step out. Just think of it as nature’s way of making sure we don’t forget how to dance in the rain!
