Weather Alert from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi at the frankly unfashionable hour of 5:30 am on a perfectly normal Tuesday, September 23, 2025. In case you were holding onto your hats or your beach umbrellas, you can relax now—the strong wind warning for coastal areas like Ra-Rakiraki and parts of the Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups has taken a back seat.

Our meteorological tale today features a southeast wind showing off its moves across the Fiji group.

For the restless travelers of Serua-Namosi, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu, and those charmingly small islands: expect clouds that can’t commit, with showers that make brief appearances. But fear not! Elsewhere, it’s mostly clear skies with a side of moderate to fresh southeast winds that just might blow your flip-flops off, and seas that are as rough as a coconut shell. Bring a jacket if you’re venturing out tonight, as it’s sweater weather in Fiji-style.

Wednesday sees more of the same: clouds looming like they’re working undercover, occasional showers, and a noticeable nip in the evening air. For our regular suspects in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, brace yourself for some traditional cloudy periods with those elusive brief showers.

Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba can enjoy the sunshine—Mother Nature has reserved a fine day with just a hint of evening drama. Sigatoka might think of switching to a jacket for a cool evening, same as today.

Rakiraki offers a mix of drama and tranquility with brief showers holding court over Rakiraki, while elsewhere it’s a scene of serene pleasantness.

The Yasawa/Mamanuca group gets yet another day in paradise with sunshine guaranteed, and Labasa flaunts a heating of up to 31 degrees, mixing it with a sultry night cool down.

Savusavu, Nabouwalu, and Taveuni: you guessed it—a spell of clouds with showers making cameo appearances.

For our Rotuma folks, the only strong wind warning left in force continues its stay. The winds bring a touch of drama with averages reaching 45km/hr, paired with a classic display of clouds, showers, and thunderstorms. Today’s act in Rotuma is finished by night with winds gently easing their grip.

So there you have it, folks. It’s a day like any other, just remember: cool nights ahead so your breaking of the ice can be literal. Keep those smiles sunny and surf ready!
