Fiji Weather Update: Cloudy With Showers and Thunderstorms as Trough Approaches, Easterly Winds and Flood Risk Friday October 24, 2025

Weather Update
Good morning, weather aficionados! Here’s your not-so-dry rundown from the fine folks at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, calling from the crystal-clear clouds at 5:30 am on this fine Friday, October 24, 2025.

It seems a cheeky little trough is sneaking its way from the west toward the islands but don’t worry—it’s expected to fizzle out like your New Year’s resolutions as it drifts southwest of Fiji. In the meantime, we are graced with a ‘moist easterly wind flow’ that’s bringing all the drama!

For today in Fiji: Expect clouds to play peek-a-boo, particularly over the interior and eastern hotspots like Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, and not forgetting Taveuni and its mini-islands. So, grab your umbrella and practice your best “oops, it got me!” face, as brief showers are expected.

For the adventurous souls in Western Fiji—think Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba—you’ll enjoy mostly cloudy conditions with a sprinkle of isolated showers at some point. Just enough to keep you guessing and your hair slightly frizzy!

Tomorrow’s forecast could lead to a bit more excitement, with clouds potentially hosting some unwelcome heavy showers and thunderstorms (think of it as nature’s own outburst!) especially across the interiors and eastern parts of Viti Levu and some other islands. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for flash flooding in low-lying areas—leave the canoe at home—unless you’re into that sort of adventure!

And just to keep you on your toes, winds will be moderate with a tendency to freshen up and seas are predicted to be moderate to rough. So, seafaring adventurers should consider enhancing their sea legs!

Now, let’s look at specific forecasts for the popular spots:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy with occasional brief showers; you’ll start your day with a min of 22°C and a toasty max of 28°C. Tomorrow, expect the same with a chance of thunder giving your Saturday a kick at 29°C max.

Over in Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: You can anticipate the hassle of fending off brief afternoon or evening showers, from a comfy min of 22°C to a sunny max of 31°C. Tomorrow, the cloud cover will be your friend as well—same time, same place, with a potential thunderstorm or two and we’re still in that comfy 31°C range.

In Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Clouds and brief showers say hello between min 22°C and max 30°C. A thunderstorm is on tomorrow’s guest list too!

Tavua/Rakiraki: Clouds are in full swing with afternoon showers, keeping it classy between 22°C and 31°C. The thunder might be gracing tomorrow’s forecast as well!

For the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, it’s a cloudy day with possible showers; and yes, expect more of the same tomorrow—clouds making good use of their dramatic flair!

Now, for the lovely locales of Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti, and Kadavu, it’s a match of clouds, brief showers, and potential thunderstorms tomorrow—just like the forecast we’ve been seeing, keeping it exciting with min 22°C!

And Rotuma is not left out. There’s some cloud with showers and thunderstorms that’ll keep things spicy—temperatures will swirl between 24°C and 30°C.

Enjoy this weather roller-coaster, prepare to stay dry or catch a cool shower depending on where you are but remember, nothing can rain on your parade!
