Weather Update: January 31, 2026

Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at the wee hour of 12:24am, and trust me, no one loves a midnight weather report quite like us!

So, what’s happening in Fiji? Well, it seems a friendly southerly wind is blowing through the islands, offering a gentle reminder that yes, winter is coming… or maybe just a fresh breeze in summer.

From now until midnight tomorrow, be ready for some cloud cover and brief showers. Our friends in Sigatoka-Korolevu-Deuba-Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki, and a smattering of other locales might want to keep their umbrellas handy. Isolated thunderstorms could crash the party later in the afternoon, serving up localised heavy downpours like a surprise guest at your birthday shindig.

For those of you living in low-lying or flood-prone zones, brace yourselves: these heavy falls could throw water fights in the neighborhood! On the plus side, moderate southerly winds (not to be confused with your housemate’s occasional grunts) will be blowing through, making seas a bit bumpy but manageable.

Outlook for Monday shows more of the same: cloudy periods and a sprinkle of showers expected, especially over Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki and their fellow cloud-chasers. For everyone else, expect fine weather, with perhaps a brief serenade of some afternoon showers and—yes, the ever-dramatic thunderstorms.

Now, let’s break down the weather in your neck of the woods:

– **Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Cloudy with brief showers. Expect those dramatic thunderstorms in the afternoon. Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Natadradave/Korovou:** A repeat of the above – did we mention those thunderstorms? Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** A fine mix of sunny vibes with a pinch of afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms. Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Same dance here—shine during the day, showers and thunder by evening. Min: 24, Max: 32.

– **Tavua/Rakiraki:** Fine apart from some possible drama in the later hours. Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** Fluffy clouds with a chance of a sprinkle. Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group:** Cloudy with brief showers and that familiar afternoon thunderstorm action. Min: 24, Max: 31.

– **Rotuma:** While the rest of us are doused, enjoy fine weather with just a sprinkle here and there. Min: 24, Max: 30.

Don’t forget those umbrellas or raincoats, folks! Stay safe and have an awesome weekend, rain or shine!
