Weather Update
Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, your one-stop shop for all things cloudy, windy, and occasionally thunderous! It’s 10:45 am on Thursday, November 20, 2025, and we have some news that might just blow you away—literally!
We’ve issued a STRONG WIND WARNING for the fashionable land areas of Lau and the Lomaiviti Groups, Kadavu and its smaller entourage, Taveuni, and its smaller buddies. If you have plans to fly a kite, now might not be the time!
Current Situation: There’s a shy little low-pressure trough hanging out over the eastern parts of the country, while a moist easterly wind is all the rage right now.
Looking ahead to midnight tomorrow across Fiji, prepare for a splash of excitement! Expect cloudy periods with some showers and isolated heavy rainfall in places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and a couple of charming little islands nearby. Flash flooding could be on the table, so keep an eye on those low-lying areas—nobody likes an unexpected swim!
For those chilling in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, it looks like afternoon or evening thunderstorms will be making an appearance. Don your raincoat, or better yet, just embrace the wetness with a good ol’ rain dance!
We’re cranking up the winds, with speeds reaching up to 45 km/h over Lau, Lomaiviti, and Taveuni. That’s right, folks, brace yourselves—your hat might just end up in the next island over!
As for Saturday’s outlook, expect the winds to continue to channel their inner strongman with gusty competition around the Lau and Lomaiviti areas. Champion seas are likely to be moderate to rough, so if you’re planning on a little nautical adventure, pack some extra seasickness tablets!
Here’s what you can expect in your neck of the woods:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: A menagerie of clouds and showers with a dash of heavy rainfall. Max: 30 today, 30 tomorrow.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Fine with a chance of rain in the evening—nature must have thought you wanted to keep the plants happy! Max: 30.
– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Essentially a sun party with a slight chance of liquid sunshine by evening. Max: 33.
– **Tavua/Rakiraki**: Cloudiness adding a dramatic flair with a few heavy rainfall surprises. Max: 32.
And for our beloved islands:
– **Kadavu**: Planning a sprinkle party? We’ve got it! Don’t forget your umbrella until about 29 degrees today!
– **Taveuni**: Cloudy spells with the wind’s breath sending chills. Max: 30 today.
For Rotuma, keep an eye out for isolated thunderstorms; they’re just a little added excitement to your day!
That’s all for our weather ritual today. Remember, if the clouds start to look moody, just dance like no one’s watching—preferably inside. Stay dry and enjoy the weather!
