Weather Notification
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45 AM on Sunday, January 4, 2026
Current Situation: We’ve got a moody little low-pressure system hanging out just northeast of Fiji, and guess what? It’s decided to move westwards. This drama queen is sending a moist northeast to southeast wind flow across our beautiful islands.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Prepare for the occasional shower, and if you’re lucky, you might get treated to some isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms – as if Mother Nature is throwing her own surprise party! Heavy falls are expected especially over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, smaller neighboring islands, and the Northern Lau group. More showers are on the schedule starting tomorrow.
Cloudy periods will make an appearance alongside those cheeky showers and the possibility of evening thunderstorm fireworks. Areas like Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Lau, Lomaiviti, Yasawa groups, and Kadavu are in for some boisterous weather action, while other places might just have to deal with fine weather, apart from those pesky isolated afternoon or evening showers.
Keep an eye out for persistent heavy downpours that may lead to flash flooding, because, let’s be honest, no one enjoys an accidental swim in their living room! Moderate southeast to northeast winds will be freshening things up, and expect some moderate to rough seas.
Tuesday Outlook: Cloudy periods and some showers will persist with the possibility of hefty downpours and thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and neighbors, as well as other areas mentioned above. Expect the winds to keep things breezy. Overall weather pattern will mostly stay intact.
