Weather Report Alert!
Broadcasted by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 9:03 AM on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Current Situation: We’ve got a southeast wind flow doing the limbo over the Fiji group while a lazy trough of low pressure settles down in the southern region. Thanks to this shy cloud cover and showers, the southern and eastern parts of Fiji will be feeling a bit damp until later today. Not to be outdone, a new trough of low pressure is flexing its muscles to the north and is set to slide on in and join the party.
Forecast Until Midnight Tonight for the Fiji Group:
Expect occasional showers with a sprinkle of isolated thunderstorms—just for that extra kick—over Kadavu, nearby smaller islands, and the southern Lau group. Over Lomaiviti and the rest of Lau, it’ll be mostly cloudy, with some showers and more isolated thunderstorms, because who doesn’t love a good surprise?
Cloud cover is also expected in the Sigatoka-Coral Coast-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and the smaller islands. Now, it’s all fine and dandy except for a few isolated afternoon or evening showers elsewhere, because we can’t have everyone having too much fun in the sun, can we?
Northern division, brace yourself for some occasional showers creeping in from later today. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms could also make a splash, especially over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Winds will be blowing in from the southeast, offering moderate breezes—and the seas will be packed and lively too!
Outlook for Tuesday: Keep your umbrellas handy for more occasional showers and some isolated thunderstorms over Northern Bua, Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, nearby smaller islands, Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. The rest of you can look forward to partly cloudy skies with brief showers and a pinch of that local thunderstorm flavor in the afternoon or evening.
And there’s a heads-up regarding isolated heavy falls that could create mini rivers in the low-lying, flood-prone areas. The winds will continue to be moderate from the east to northeast, while the seas will remain moderately playful.
