Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026
Well, folks, it seems like Mother Nature has decided to throw a temper tantrum and invited a couple of low-pressure systems to crash the party over Fiji. One of them is casually drifting west, while the other is below it, putting on a shower show and making it rain. Spoiler alert: it’s about to get a bit soggy!
Here’s what you can expect before the clock strikes midnight tomorrow:
Prepare for occasional showers featuring some isolated heavy downpours and dramatic thunderstorms over the interior and eastern regions of the larger islands—this includes Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki, Tavua, Cakaudrove, and Southern Bua—basically, if you’re in the vicinity or even thinking about it! Also, Taveuni, Lomaiviti, Lau, Kadavu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca groups are in for a little sprinkle too.
For the rest of us, it’s just a partly cloudy day that might turn into a surprise rainfall event in the afternoon or evening, potentially accompanied by some thunder and lightning—I mean, who doesn’t enjoy a little drama in the skies? Just a heads-up: localized heavy falls could sneakily lead to flash flooding in low-lying spots, so keep your floaties nearby!
Expect moderate northeasterly winds that might become fresh at times, and the sea? Oh, it’s going to be moderate to rough out there, so think twice before planning that spontaneous sailing adventure.
Looking ahead to Friday, the clouds are sticking around, with showers that might include a few surprise downpours over the interior and northeastern parts of the larger islands. Yes, I’m looking at you, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and those charming smaller islands nearby. The rest of the gang gets to enjoy partly cloudy skies with the chance of afternoon or evening boisterous showers.
Specific spots, here’s what to brace for:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect a soggy mix of occasional showers, isolated heavy falls, and high-energy thunderstorms. Max today is a cozy 30°C, and tomorrow you’ll wake up to a lovely 25°C with a max of 30°C. The Friday forecast reads: an overcast blanket with showers and another set of heavy falls sneaking in.
Natadradave/Korovou: Get ready for more of the same—occasional showers featuring heavy falls and thunderstorms. Same temps as Suva for today and tomorrow.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Our lovely coastal folks can expect partly cloudy skies today with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms later—maxing out at a balmy 31°C today. Tomorrow’s forecast holds the same.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Here, it’s partly cloudy with afternoon or evening showers. Today’s max also reaches 31°C.
For Tavua/Rakiraki and the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, the forecast is similar with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms, all with a tantalizing max of 30°C.
Up in Labasa, count on afternoon or evening showers and the occasional thunderstorm to spice things up while lounging under a max of 31°C.
And don’t forget about Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti, and Kadavu—all on the “occasional showers and thunderstorms” train. It’s like the weather’s trying to be the dramatic star of the show!
Lastly, Rotuma: Prepare for a rain-filled episode as well, with occasional heavy rain making an appearance. Today’s max is also 30°C. Tomorrow, the rains might ease up a bit, coming in at a min of 26°C and max of 31°C.
So, pack that umbrella and get your cozy socks ready—it’s looking like a wet and wonderful week ahead in Fiji!
