Weather Update
Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025
Well folks, it looks like a couple of low-pressure troughs are doing their best impression of a slow-moving train at the eastern parts of Fiji. And there’s another one inching closer from the west, so you might want to practice your rain dance! Due to this aquatic invasion, we can expect cloud and rain to shower down on us until Friday. Meanwhile, we’ve got a lovely moist easterly breeze that will remind you that Fiji is still the places dreams of sunshine go to vacation.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Be prepared for occasions where the rain will pop by for a surprise visit, accompanied by a few isolated thunderstorms trying to steal the show. Expect heavy falls, especially over the interior and eastern parts of Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove (yep, including Taveuni and nearby smaller islands), the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu (think of it as a cloud meet-and-greet from Serua-Namosi to Tailevu North), as well as Kadavu and its tiny neighbors. Rain will take a breather and ease into showers starting tomorrow.
Elsewhere, we’re looking at partly cloudy skies where the afternoon or evening will have showers and thunderstorms popping up—oh joy! And yes, isolated heavy falls might lead to some flash flooding in low-lying areas, so don’t forget to avoid puddles that look overly friendly.
Winds will be moderately easterly, fresh at times, adding a little drama to the seas, which will be moderate to rough.
Looking ahead to Friday: Expect a canvas of clouds, occasional showers, and a few thunderous bursts of excitement. This is particularly true for the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu (we’re talking Sigatoka to Tailevu North). Again, keep in mind that isolated heavy falls can lead to trouble in flood-prone areas. Winds? Yep, they’ll still be moderately easterly. And the seas? Let’s just say they’ll be having a bit of a rough day!
