Weather Update

Ladies and gentlemen, grab your umbrellas and maybe a rain dance guide! Our friends at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi have some weather tidings to share from this Saturday afternoon.

Currently, a gentle breeze is blowing in from the south-southeast, but don’t be fooled—it’s not the calm before the storm! A sluggish trough of low pressure is hanging around the southern parts of Fiji like an uninvited guest who’s overstayed their welcome. Expect clouds and showers to shower down on the southern and eastern regions until later tomorrow, when, hopefully, they find the exit.

Looking ahead, another troublemaking trough is gearing up to arrive from the north on Monday, so pack your raincoat if you plan on vacationing in Fiji!

As for the forecast leading to midnight tomorrow, we invite you to imagine occasional showers complete with a sprinkle of isolated thunderstorms strutting their stuff over Kadavu and nearby isles. The southern Lau group will also get in on this rainy action, likely throwing an impromptu thunder party.

Over the Lomaiviti and rest of the Lau group, expect some cloudy spells followed by brief showers and the occasional thunder rumble—because what’s a day without a little drama? The Sigatoka-Coral Coast-Korolevu areas, along with various regions like Serua-Namosi and Navua, will see brief showers as well. Don’t worry too much, because outside of those expected rain intervals, the sun will be trying its best to shine.

For Navua, Suva, and Nausori, you’ve got clouds putting on a gloomy performance too, accompanied by those pesky afternoon or evening thunderstorms. The temperature will have a cozy low of 25 and a cheeky max of 32.

Over in Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, you can expect a day that is generally fine—unless the afternoon or evening decides to drop a little surprise shower on you.

The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups are looking fine too, but remember, “fine” doesn’t mean perfect; expect some isolated showers.

As for those in Labasa, Savusavu, and Nabouwalu, clouds will be your constant companions, along with the thrilling thrill of afternoon thunderstorms.

Looking into Monday’s crystal ball, the forecast shows a mix of occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms across the northern Bua, Macuata, and Taveuni while most other areas will experience some sunshine poking through the clouds, only to be interrupted by occasional showers.

So there you have it—rainy chaos in some regions, sunshine where possible, and thunderstorms promising to keep things interesting. Temperatures will stay consistent and warm, fluctuating between 25 and 33 degrees.

Stay weather-aware, and don’t forget—if life gives you rain, grab a raincoat or better yet, learn to juggle umbrellas!
