Weather Update – January 9, 2026

Good morning, weather warriors! Grab your umbrellas and galoshes, because it looks like the clouds are throwing a party across Fiji, and everyone’s invited!

Our good pal, the trough of low pressure, is rolling in from the west, bringing along a few friends—namely, clouds and showers. They’re all set to spread southeast and cause a ruckus throughout the country.

Here’s the forecast until midnight tonight for our beautiful archipelago:
For Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and a few other spots, expect a solid shower schedule sprinkled with the occasional heavy downpour. It’s like Mother Nature’s version of “Surprise! You’re wet!” Over in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and some of those smaller but mighty islands, get ready for the same weather extravaganza. Cloudy periods will take center stage elsewhere, especially in the afternoons and evenings.

And for those adventurous souls thinking of strolling through low-lying areas, do watch out for potential flash flooding. Even the weather can be dramatic!

The winds will be giving you a breezy welcome, with moderate easterlies keeping things cool, while the seas are maintaining a moderate vibe, too.

Looking ahead to Saturday:
More of the same is on the menu, with cloudy periods hanging out over Navua, Suva, and Nausori. You’ll see some shy sunshine poking through at times, but don’t get too comfortable; there may be afternoon thunderstorms looking to crash the party with heavy splashes!

Special forecast highlights:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudy with showers and likely thunderstorms bringing heavy rain—perfect weather for hydrating your indoor plants! Min: 24, Max: 31.
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Occasional showers, but don’t worry; it just makes the sun happier—Min: 23, Max: 33.
For Labasa: Watch out for those heavy showers! Min: 21, Max: 33.

And if you’re headed to Rotuma, expect a good mixing of occasional showers and maybe a few booming thunder peeks. Min: 25, Max: 29.

So, whether you’re planning to build a sandcastle, take a nap with your cat, or finally catch up on that book, keep your weather eyes peeled. Enjoy the drizzle, and remember—it’s all part of the fabulous Fiji experience!
