Fiji Weather Forecast: Trough of Low Pressure Brings Showers, Thunderstorms and Flash Flood Risk; Rotuma Under Heavy Rain Warning

Weather Bulletin: The Forecast You Didn’t Know You Needed

Issued at 5:30 AM on Friday, November 28, 2025, because who doesn’t love a bit of weather drama?

Situation Update: The weather gods have blessed us with an active trough of low pressure hanging out to the east of our lovely Fiji islands. This pesky trough is planning to take a gradual exit by tonight, so maybe we’ll throw it a farewell party?

Forecast until midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
Prepare for a waterworks show with occasional showers and some rambunctious thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and accompanying little islands. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups will also get in on the action, so grab your umbrellas! Cloudy days with intermittent showers are on tap for Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu, and their nearby companions. And a little heads up: localized heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, so watch where you’re stepping!

For the rest of the group, it’ll be fine, apart from the occasional shower sneaking in during the afternoon or evening. We might even see some isolated thunderstorms getting cozy over Viti Levu. Winds will be moderate, blowing from southeast to northwest, so hold onto your hats!

Saturday’s Outlook: Expect more friends wearing grey—cloudy periods ahead with showers and isolated thunderstorms in our northern paradise, Taveuni, and surrounding islands. The Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu are all in for a bit of a drench too. Elsewhere, just a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers, and some good thunderclaps might drop in over Viti Levu.
