Weather Update: Grab Your Umbrella!
Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at a bright and early 5:30 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
What’s happening: We have a cozy little trough of low pressure hanging out over both the western and eastern parts of the Fiji Islands like it owns the place. But don’t worry, it’s slowly packing its bags and moving westward away from us later today. Meanwhile, we’ve got some breezy northerly to northeasterly winds making sure nothing too sunny stays around for long.
Here’s what to expect for the rest of today across the Fiji group:
Get ready for a cloudy day with a dash of showers over the western and eastern regions including our friends from Nadi to Lautoka down to Ba, and swinging by the coast at Sigatoka and Coral Coast. It’s also the same story on the smaller islands around Lau, Lomaiviti, and Kadavu. Elsewhere, expect more cloudy moments, with some cheeky afternoon or evening showers — possibly accompanied by a dramatic thunderstorm because, hey, who doesn’t love a bit of showbiz with their rain?
Now, localised heavy falls might just decide to take a stroll through low-lying and flood-prone areas, so keep an eye out! The seas are moderate to rough out there, so a little bit of splish-splash might be on the cards for your sailing plans.
Tomorrow’s forecast: As we look ahead to Thursday, don your best rainy-day attire because it continues to be cloudy with showers expected mainly in the interior and eastern parts of the larger islands. Better have your umbrella handy because isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms — with heavy falls — will undoubtedly try to make a scene once again!
Let’s take a peek at specific spots:
Navua/Suva/Nausori: It’s cloudy with some showers and you might want to brace yourself for afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Temps swinging between a cozy 24 to a toasty 32.
Natadradave/Korovou: Similar weather here — cloudy, with showers, and a sprinkle of thunderstorms. Same temperature range as above.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: More cloud and light rain, along with that sneaky thunder making a cameo. Expect temperatures from 24 to 33.
Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: It’s the same cloudy-story, with likely showers and the occasional stylish thunderstorm. Temperatures will hang around 24 to 33.
And the trend continues across Tavua/Rakiraki, Yasawa/Mamanuca, Labasa, and Savusavu too. They’re all joining the party with clouds, showers, and thunderstorms transporting between 24 to 33 degrees.
For our friends in Taveuni, Kadavu, the Lau & Lomaiviti group, and Rotuma: expect similar weather shenanigans — it’s a cloudy affair with some thunderous applause expected as well. Rotuma might have a bit more rain, but who’s counting?
Remember, folks, keep your umbrellas at the ready, and let’s hope that this weather doesn’t spoil your plans for another endless beach day. Stay dry and enjoy the show that nature’s putting on today!
