Fiji Weather Forecast: Trough Brings Widespread Rain and Thunderstorms With Flash Flood Risk Across Islands; Saturday Outlook

Weather Update: Buckle Up, Fiji!

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Here’s the scoop: A trough of low pressure has decided to throw a beach party over the western parts of the country. Yup, you guessed it – this means clouds, showers, and rain will be crashing the island festivities for the next few days!

So, what’s the forecast looking like before midnight tomorrow? Expect occasional rain and maybe some friendly thunderstorms to drop by uninvited over most areas. And yes, some of these rain showers may take their job a bit too seriously, leading to isolated heavy falls. If you’re in a low-lying or prone-to-flooding zone, keep your floaties handy because heavy falls might cause a spontaneous water feature—uh-oh!

Good news: the rain will gradually ease across the Western Division starting tomorrow! Winds will be blowing in from the northwest, but they’ll be switching over to southwesterly to northwesterly tomorrow. Seas are moderate, so hold onto your hats (and surfboards)!

Now, looking ahead to Saturday: More rain and the occasional thunderstorm are likely over a variety of areas, including Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and even islands like Lau and Lomaiviti. Isolated heavy falls are still in the mix, possibly leading to some of those pesky flash floods we love to complain about!

Expect partly cloudy skies with afternoon and evening showers. The wind will be moderate to fresh from the southeast, and seas may be a bit rough, so think twice before heading out for a wild swim!

Local Forecasts (in case you were wondering):

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Rain with some thunder boomers. Cheers to tomorrow’s Min: 22, Max: 28.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Rain and thunder on the side! Tomorrow’s Min: 21, Max: 29.
– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Occasional rain and potential for heavy downpours. Tomorrow’s Min: 21, Max: 30.
– Tavua/Rakiraki: Gonna be a splashy one with possible heavy falls. Tomorrow’s Min: 23, Max: 30.
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: More rain and thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s Min: 22, Max: 30.
– And the lovely Rotuma: An easterly breeze with mainly fine weather—who turned on the sunshine there? Tomorrow’s Min: 26, Max: 31.

Enjoy the game of weather roulette, Fiji! Stay dry, or grab an umbrella and leap into those puddles like a kid again!
