Fiji Weather Forecast: Trough Approaching with Cloudy Skies, Showers and Thunderstorms; Isolated Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Risk Across Viti Levu and Island Groups

Weather Update

Hey there, fellow weather watchers! It’s your favorite forecast enthusiast here, bringing you the latest scoop from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, filled with enough moisture to rival your morning cup of coffee!

So, what’s happening in paradise? We’ve got a funky easterly wind blowing through, bringing a dash of dampness to our lovely islands. In fact, a low-pressure trough is making its way toward us from the north, and it might just party crash our weekend plans! Expect some clouds and showers in the northern and eastern parts of Fiji on Sunday. Grab your umbrellas because we might just need them!

Now, let’s talk about our forecast for today, straight to midnight. Get ready for cloudy spells and brief showers in the interior and eastern parts of Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, and even Taveuni’s islands. Viti Levu’s crowded interior and eastern nooks (think Serua-Namosi to Tailevu North) will also be getting their share of the wet stuff. And yes, Kadavu and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups are also joining the rain party. A little drizzle never hurt anyone, right? There’ll be isolated thunderstorms, so don’t be shocked if Mother Nature decides to throw in some dramatic light shows!

Oh, and let’s not forget about those moderate easterly winds that might kick things up a notch, like the wind is trying to practice its dance moves. Seas will be moderate, so be cautious if you plan to take a dip!

Now, for our Sunday outlook: expect a re-run of cloudy periods with some showers and a sprinkle of isolated thunderstorms. The interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu—along with Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, and those friendly little islands—might see some heavy falls, so hold onto your hats… or your surfboards!
