Weather Update
Brought to you straight from the crystal ball at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi
So, what’s cooking in the skies? Well, a little something called a trough of low pressure is having a party just east of Fiji, and it plans to stick around and rain on our parade until late tomorrow. In the meantime, we’re experiencing a delightful moist breeze from the east-southeast – perfect for anyone looking to wet their hair!
Here’s what to expect from now until midnight tomorrow across the magnificent Fiji group:
– Prepare for some cloud cover with showers and possibly a couple of isolated thunderstorms trying to crash the party over Taveuni, nearby islands, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. So, if you see lightning, just remember, it’s nature’s way of clapping!
– Over in the Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, eastern Macuata, Kadavu, and their smaller islands, expect cloudy periods and the occasional shower.
– But don’t fret! Elsewhere may enjoy fine weather—unless you happen to step outside in the afternoon or evening, when a few pesky showers might sneak in.
– Viti Levu and Vanua Levu should brace themselves for an electrifying evening, with thunderstorms expected to deliver some heavy rainfall. And just a heads-up: localized heavy falls could lead to some surprised neighbors—those in low-lying areas, you may want to channel your inner swimmer!
– Winds will be moderately easterly to southeasterly, so don’t be surprised if you find your hat doing the cha-cha.
– And for those who fancy a splash, seas will be moderate to… let’s say, a tad rough.
Now, looking ahead to Monday: Expect similar cloudy periods with showers in the same hot-spots as Sunday afternoon, and more thunderstorms looming around Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. So hold onto your umbrellas and remind them who’s boss!
Local Forecast Highlights:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudiness and showers ahead, followed by the possibility of thunder claps later in the day. Temperature lounging between a cozy 24 and a warm 31 degrees.
