Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 3:30 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

Attention, weather enthusiasts and umbrella hoarders! A moist east to northeast wind flow has decided to cozy up over our beautiful islands, while a cheeky trough of low pressure is cruising in from the southwest, ready to spice things up with some clouds and showers – particularly for the southern areas come Monday.

Here’s what you can expect until midnight tomorrow across Fiji:

For Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Ra, Naitasiri, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, Taveuni, and the surrounding small islands:
Get ready for occasional showers accompanied by the occasional thunderclap as Mother Nature decides to throw a mini tantrum with heavy rainfall. Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye on those low-lying areas – flash flooding may be in the cards, making your backyard look more like a swimming pool than a garden!

For the rest of the island:
We’re talking a mix of cloudy periods with the occasional shower popping up. Expect showers to thunder down in the afternoon or evening, possibly making it feel like the sky has its own sense of drama. Yes, folks, localized heavy falls could also lead to flash flooding in those flood-prone spots.

As for the heat, you may want to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! It’s going to be hot and humid, with temperatures soaring between 32-35 degrees Celsius, perfect for those wishing to sweat off last night’s dinner.

Moderate northeasterly winds will be blowing through, and don’t be surprised if they turn gusty in those stormy spots. Waves will also be showing off with moderate seas, so marine adventurers, keep a close lookout!

Looking ahead to Monday, we’ll see a continuation of occasional rain and a few trusty thunderstorms deciding to grace us with their presence later in the day, combined with moderate easterly winds that will just love to switch to northerly. Seas? Well, expect them to get a tad rough.

Here are the specific forecasts for your area:

– For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms are on the agenda.
– In Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Prepare for cloudy periods and some showers, rearing to unleash heavy downpours in the afternoon or evening, complete with thunderstorms.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast? You guessed it: cloudy periods with some heavy showers later in the day.
– Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional showers with a side of isolated thunder!
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Expect that same cloudy period with a few sneaky showers throughout the day.
– Labasa? Occasional showers with isolated thunder to keep things exciting.
– Savusavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti group? Well, you’ve joined the party too with occasional showers and thunderstorms.
– And last but definitely not least, Kadavu: Prepare for a light and breezy day with the same shower and thunder combination.
– For Rotuma: The easterly wind flow is here, bringing along cloudy periods and a few showers – possibly a thunderstorm just to keep everyone on their toes.

So grab your raincoat, keep your sandals on close to the door, and remember – when in doubt, just dance in the rain!
