Weather Update
Ladies and gentlemen, gather round, it’s time for your somewhat whimsical weather forecast brought to you live from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi!
As of 7:30 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2025, we’ve got a low-pressure trough just lounging about to the east of Fiji, looking as comfortable as your mate on the couch. Expect a chance of showers coming in for a visit over Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups, as well as the eastern half of Viti Levu (that’s Navua, Suva, Nausori… you know, the busy parts) and part of Vanua Levu (yes, Cakaudrove, we’re talking about you!).
In the afternoons and evenings, you might want to grab your umbrella because isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain could crash the party. Those squiggly water paths from heavy rain may start to creep into those low-lying areas where drainage is on holiday.
For those near the shoreline, get ready for moderate easterly winds and seas that are moderate. Perfect conditions if you’re a fish, not so much for a Sunday picnic!
Looking forward to Tuesday, you can expect a repeat of the cloudy conditions and cheeky showers in the same places. Don’t be surprised if a thunderstorm decides to join the afternoon tea too. Those who reside outside the main wettish spots may enjoy some fine weather, as long as you’re prepared for a rain dance in the afternoons and evenings.
Here’s the scoop for specific hotspots:
– Navua, Suva, Nausori: Elusive sunshine during the day, but keep that umbrella handy for possible afternoon thunder booms.
– Nadi, Lautoka, Ba: Sunshine might fool you into thinking the weather is perfect, until those afternoon thunderstorm guests show up.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Similar tale – fine until the storm clouds have their fun in the afternoons.
– Tavua and Rakiraki: Fine apart from those sneaky isolated afternoon showers – aren’t they just the worst?
– Yasawa/Mamanuca: These islands are playing it cool but expect some afternoon shows, possibly with a thunderous encore.
– Labasa: Keep it fine, but moderate afternoon showers may pop up to shake things up.
– Savusavu: A mix of clouds, showers, and possibly heavy rain – don’t forget your life jacket, just in case!
– Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Same pattern of cloudy moments and potential rainfall.
– Rotuma: Fine weather is calling your name, but don’t let your guard down. Rain could pay a surprise visit.
So grab that umbrella, wear those stylish rain boots, and get prepared for whatever the skies may bring! After all, it wouldn’t be Fiji without a little weather drama.
