Weather Update
Greetings, weather warriors! It seems that a cheeky little trough of low pressure has decided to throw a cloud party over the northern regions, and it looks like it’s planning on sticking around for a while. Grab your umbrellas, folks – showers and thunderstorms are on the guest list!
For the next 24 hours across the Fiji group, expect occasional showers and a few isolated thunderstorms dancing over the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and a gaggle of smaller islands. Plenty of drama over the Northern Division, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Serua-Namosi, and various other places where they’ve graciously invited heavy downpours to join in. So, if you fancy a spontaneous water feature in your backyard, this might be your moment!
Meanwhile, if you’re on the sunny side of things – elsewhere across Fiji – you can expect a generally fine day, apart from the usual afternoon or evening shower that seems to have uninvited itself to the party. And let’s not forget the flashy thunderstorms rolling through Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, maybe carrying a few heavy surprises that could lead to localized flash flooding in your favorite low-lying trouble spots.
Winds will be moderate, shifting between southeast and northwest, and seas might be a bit rough, so hold onto your hats (or maybe your surfboards).
Looking ahead to Thursday, the fun doesn’t stop: we’ll have more occasional showers making an appearance over Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, Yasawa, and some delightful southern areas. Afternoon or evening cheering crowds (thunderstorms, that is) will likely bring heavy rain to Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Breaking down the local areas:
– In Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Expect those occasional showers and a few rumbles of thunder, as if the sky’s having a dramatic moment.
– For Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: Although you’ll enjoy some fine weather, keep an eye out for afternoon antics – those showers and thunderstorms are sneaking back in.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast will also flirt with afternoon showers and the odd thunderstorm.
– Rakiraki will see occasional showers and a thunderstorm popping in for a quick visit while other areas enjoy a sprinkle here and there.
And yes, even backdrops like Yasawa, Mamanuca, Savusavu, and Lau/Lomaiviti will join in the occasional shower fest – after all, who doesn’t love a splash of excitement?
Finally, over in Rotuma, a gentle easterly wind flow grants you a relatively fine day, though breif showers may decide to crash the party. The outlook for Thursday looks a bit cloudier – with more showers ready to dive in.
Stay dry or stay prepared to get a little wet – either way, remember, when life gives you rain, grab a raincoat and dance!
