Weather Update
Brought to you by the whizzes at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, here’s your forecast as of 3:30 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
For the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow, expect partly cloudy skies, with brief showers making surprise appearances over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups—so don’t forget your umbrella, just in case! Elsewhere, it’ll be fine, but don’t get too relaxed; those afternoon or evening showers might sneak up on you.
And there’s more! Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms could crash the party with heavy downpours—because what’s a good day in Fiji without a little thunder for dramatic effect?
Winds will be moderate to fresh from the southeast, so hold onto your hats, especially if someone tells a corny joke.
Monday is looking like a contender for “best day,” with mostly fine weather expected, except for those pesky brief showers in the usual suspects: Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and some of those charming little nearby islands. And if you’re elsewhere, just dodge the occasional afternoon shower.
Now, let’s break it down by region:
In Navua/Suva/Nausori: Partly cloudy with brief showers that could pop up, along with some potential thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening (because who wouldn’t want to dance with Mother Nature?).
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Expect the sunshine to play nice most of the day, aside from those cheeky afternoon/evening showers. Thunderstorms may also want to join in for a brief encore.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: All clear, but keep an eye out for those sneaky afternoon or evening showers and possibly more thunderstorm antics.
Tavua/Rakiraki: A similar tale of fine weather, with afternoon blasts of rain and clouds rolling in.
Yasawa/Mamanuca: They’ll be mostly sunny, throwing a brief shower here and there like confetti. Thunderstorms may crash the scene too!
Labasa, Savusavu, Lau/Lomaiviti, and Kadavu all share the same fate—brief showers are possible and thunderstorms might feel like joining the party.
Now, for our friends in Rotuma: A trough of low pressure seems to have set up shop, bringing cloudy times and some showers, not to mention the chance of thunderstorms—because even Rotuma likes a good weather shake-up!
So, grab your sunglasses and your umbrella, because in Fiji, you can never be too prepared for a dance-off between sunshine and showers. Keep smiling, and may fair weather be forever in your favor!
