Fiji Weather Forecast October 23, 2025: Cloudy Conditions with Showers and Thunderstorms, Flash Flood Risk, Easterly Winds, and Rough Seas Across the Islands

Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, at 10:45 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2025

Here’s the scoop straight from the weather wizards: Fiji is currently under the spell of a weak trough of low pressure that’s moving slower than your uncle after a large feast. Luckily, it’s set to fizzle out by later today. Meanwhile, there’s another pesky trough looming over to the west, but don’t worry—this one also has plans to head southwest and disappear like a good magician.

In the meantime, a nice moist easterly wind is blowing across the islands, ensuring that our atmosphere is feeling just a little steamy.

Forecast until midnight tomorrow across the Fiji group:
Today: Expect some cloudy periods and the occasional shower, particularly in the cozy corners of Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Eastern Taveuni, and those lovely little smaller islands nearby. The interior and eastern regions of Viti Levu should also prepare for a splash. Those of you in Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti, keep your umbrellas handy too! Oh, and for the rest of you, the clouds are also joining the party with expected afternoon or evening showers and occasional thunderstorms making an appearance with heavy downpours that might resemble some dramatic movie scenes (flash flooding possible).

Tomorrow: The cloudy crew and brief showers will continue strutting their stuff across the same key areas. Other regions will see more isolated showers, but keep your spirits up; at least there will be moderate easterly winds and a refreshing break from the sun!

Looking ahead to Saturday: Expect a similar set-up with more clouds, potential showers, and some thunderstorms crashing the party, especially in the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu. Those of you in low-lying areas, mind the puddles—nobody wants a surprise swim!

Specific forecasts for popular regions:

Navua / Suva / Nausori:

For the islands of Yasawa/Mamanuca, Taveuni, and the lovely group of Lau and Lomaiviti, you’ll see a similar story with clouds, occasional showers, and the inevitable thunderstorms crashing the scene—nothing like a surprise downpour to liven up the day!

In the far-off land of Rotuma, expect some temporary showers that will join the clouds, along with the potential for occasional thunderstorms.

Stay dry, keep your umbrellas close, and just maybe practice that high-stepping dance from the rain to keep it light and fun!
