Ahoy, folks! It appears a little troublemaker, also known as a trough of low pressure, is lounging over the northern part of our beautiful islands. This little cloud party is set to hang around for the next few days, bringing along some cloudy shenanigans and the occasional shower.
For our fabulous Fiji group, here’s what to expect by midnight tonight: Get ready for some intermittent showers and a few sky fireworks (a.k.a. isolated thunderstorms) especially around Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and the nearby party islands. Don’t forget about our friends in the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, as well as Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra. There’s even a possibility of some heavy rain crashing the party! Elsewhere, bask in the dry goodness apart from some possible afternoon or evening showers.
If you’re on Viti Levu or Vanua Levu, keep your umbrella handy because those afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are planning to come out and play.
And hold onto your hats, folks! Those localized and persistent heavy falls might stir up some flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas – so avoid wearing flip-flops if you’re adventuring around there!
Winds are coming in moderately from the southeast to northwest, and our seas are waving moderately too.
Looking ahead to Wednesday: The occasional showers will continue their tour around Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and the nearby smaller islands, Yasawa, and Mamanuca group alongside Southern Bua and Cakaudrove – they love to spread the cheer! Afternoon and evening showers will pop up pretty much everywhere else, along with some thunderstorms hoping to make a splash over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Expect a bit more oomph in those southeasterly winds and prepare for moderate to rough seas.
For our friends in Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Prepare for some occasional showers with the possibility of isolated thunderous applause.
For those in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: Most of your day should be fine, but don’t be surprised if some afternoon or evening showers (and a loud crack of thunder!) decide to crash your picnic.
In Sigatoka and Coral Coast: Enjoy the fine weather but keep an eye out for those rascal afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms ready to roll in.
As for Tavua and Rakiraki: You might be greeted by some occasional showers and scattered thunderstorms over Rakiraki, but fine weather will grace the rest of the area until the afternoon or evening.
Over at Yasawa and Mamanuca group: Occasional showers and your friendly neighborhood thunderstorm will keep you entertained.
In Labasa, Savusavu: Expect an encore of occasional showers and isolated thunder while you plan your next island adventure.
And my friends in Lau and Lomaiviti, plus Kadavu: You guessed it, occasional showers again!
Lastly, for our buddies in Rotuma: The easterly winds have kicked in! Expect them to bring some lovely fine conditions, sprinkled with brief showers.
Outlook for Wednesday in Rotuma: Cloudy periods with some showers, and possibly some isolated thunderstorms making a cameo appearance.
Stay dry, stay safe, and keep that sense of humor handy while dodging the raindrops!
