Weather Bulletin – The Not-So-Dry Forecast

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! We’ve got a weak little trough of low pressure lounging around the eastern parts of Fiji, stirring up clouds and a few showers like an indecisive chef. In the meantime, a moist flow of air from the east-northeast is keeping things nice and steamy across the islands.
Here’s what you can expect before midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Get ready for occasional showers in Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups, as well as the eastern half of Viti Levu (a.k.a. Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and the interior of Ra), Cakaudrove, and the southern Bua. On top of that, those overachieving thunderstorms may decide to crash the party, especially in the afternoons or evenings where they’ll really pull out the stops with heavy falls.
If you’re elsewhere, you might enjoy some fine weather, but also be prepared for those sneaky afternoon or evening showers and the occasional thunderstorm that show up uninvited.
A heads up: those thunderstorms could lead to some local superstar rain and cause water to pool in low spots or areas with dodgy drainage. So, avoid turning your backyard into a swimming pool, unless that’s what you were aiming for.
While the winds will be moderately fresh, brace for moderate to rough seas—perfect for those who enjoy turbulent waves!
Looking ahead to Monday: More of the same! Expect occasional showers over Lau and Lomaiviti islands, the eastern half of Viti Levu, Cakaudrove, and southern Bua. Those heavy afternoon thunderstorms are sticking around too, just in case you thought you’d get a break.
So, let’s break down your local forecasts, shall we?
– For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Occasional showers and thunderstorms expected, particularly revving up in the afternoon or evening! Keep that umbrella handy.
– For Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: This trio will see mostly fine weather, but those cheeky afternoon and evening showers might make an appearance.
– For Sigatoka and the Coral Coast: Fine weather, with the usual suspects (showers and thunderstorms) popping up later in the day.
– For Tavua and Rakiraki: Same story—fine weather with afternoon or evening showers, bringing a touch of drama with that potential thunderstorm.
– For the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups: It’s mostly sunny, apart from those pesky afternoon surprises.
– For Labasa and Savusavu: Expect the same mix of fine weather with occasional showers and afternoon thunderstorms—you know, the classic.
– For Lau and Lomaiviti, and Kadavu: Here’s your forecast: occasional showers, coming to play with the thunderstorms in the evening.
– And Rotuma? Congratulations! You’re enjoying some fine weather under a slightly breezy easterly wind… for now.
So, keep your raincoats close and your sense of humor closer. Happy weathering, everyone!
