Weather Whimsy Alert!
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Looks like a rather timid little trough of low pressure is trying to play peek-a-boo over the eastern parts of Fiji and is slowly shimmying away. As it departs, expect it to take some clouds and showers with it, leaving behind a slightly soggy farewell for parts of our lovely islands until tomorrow. Meanwhile, we’ve got some east to southeast winds flowing about, trying to keep things interesting!
Here’s what the forecast looks like until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Expect occasional showers and the possibility of some overenthusiastic heavy falls over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu, and a few of those cheeky smaller islands, as well as Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. Don’t worry, the showers should start to ease up as we roll into tomorrow.
Be wary of localized heavy falls! These may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas for those of you who enjoy a surprise swim in your backyard. The rest of the crew can look forward to a fine day, with the exception of a rare afternoon or evening shower – nothing serious, just Mother Nature’s version of a sprinkle.
Nights are expected to be cool enough that you might need a light blanket – hello, excuse to snuggle!
For those with a nautical inclination, be advised – moderate to rough seas ahead!
What’s brewing for Sunday? Well, it looks like we’re in for cloudy periods and a bit of showering drama over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and the nearby smaller islands, as well as Lau and Lomaiviti group and the ever-lively Kadavu.
