Weather Update from the Crystal Ball of the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 5:30am on this fine Monday, December 29, 2025.

Hold onto your hats, folks, as a moist north to northeast wind has decided to take the spotlight over our beautiful archipelago. An enthusiastic troupe of low-pressure weather is making its way from the west, bringing clouds and rain that will waltz through Fiji starting later Tuesday and sticking around until the weekend—so definitely a long, wet party!

For today, expect some cloudy antics with occasional showers, especially if you’re in the interior, Northwestern, or Northeastern regions of Viti Levu. It might even put on a light show with isolated afternoon thunderstorms and the potential for those heavy drops of rain – nature’s very own tap dance! The same goes for the interior and northeastern parts of Vanua Levu, the Yasawa-Mamanuca, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. Yes, it’s a rain party in multiple locations! But, if you find yourself elsewhere, don’t be surprised by some scattered afternoon or evening showers and occasional thunderclaps.

Watch out, though! Those localized heavy showers could transform into flash flooding in low-lying areas, so make sure your superhero capes are ready for rescue missions!

Winds will be feeling moderately mischievous, turning from north to northwest as they frolic across moderate seas.

Looking ahead to Tuesday: More clouds are joining the party with showers. Afternoon thunderstorms might just crash the gathering and bring some heavy rain, especially over interior regions of Viti Levu and parts of Vanua Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau, and Lomaiviti. The rest of the spots can also look forward to some cloudy periods with a chance of showers and thunder, so keep those umbrellas handy!
