Weather Update
Coming your way from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, at the decidedly unglamorous hour of 7:30 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Situation: There’s a low-pressure trough hanging around just north of Fiji, apparently enjoying a leisurely vacation while giving the easterly winds a good workout.
Forecast until midnight for the Fiji group: Get ready for bursts of rain and a sprinkle of thunderstorms! The Northern Division, including our friends on Taveuni, Cikobia, and Qelelevu, is in for a wet night full of excitement. The rest of Viti Levu should brace for gloomy spells with showers and possibly dramatic thunderstorms, especially in the Interior and eastern areas (think of it as nature’s pyrotechnics show), plus Kadavu and its little islands, Lau, and Lomaiviti.
Farther afield, it’s fine and dandy, save for some potential afternoon or evening showers that may decide to crash the party. Moderate southeast winds are blowing, occasionally fresh enough to make you wish for a sweater. Seas are on the moderate to rough side; so, keep those life jackets handy if you’re taking to the waters!
Outlook for Sunday: Expect the excitement to continue with occasional showers and perhaps another round of thunderstorms about the Interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu and surrounding islands. The rest can anticipate some cloud cover with the possibility of afternoon or evening showers—because why not? East winds will remain moderate to fresh, and the seas will keep their rough edge.
Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Enjoy the cloudy weather with some showers—becoming more frequent later on with potential heavy downpours and thunder. Tomorrow’s forecast: a Minimum of 22 degrees and a Maximum of 29. Sunday surprises: A repeat of showers and possible fireworks.
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Here’s the good news: it’s looking generally sunny! Just some chance encounters with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s forecast: Minimum 22, Maximum 32. Sunday brings another day of sunshine with that same cheeky chance for showers.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine, fine, and yet more fine, with just a little chance of isolated late shower drama. Tomorrow: Minimum 22, Maximum 32. Sunday: fine again, only considering a few cheeky afternoon showers.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: The sun should shine brightly, but keep an umbrella handy, just in case! Minimum 22, Maximum 31 tomorrow. Sunday: Same story here, but with a chance of afternoon showers.
For Natadradave/Korovou: Expect more clouds and showers later tonight—don’t forget your raincoat! Tomorrow: Minimum 22, Maximum 29. Sunday: More clouds with some persistent rain.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Another day of sunshine expected with a chance for surprise afternoon showers. Tomorrow: Minimum 22, Maximum 30. Sunday: A repeat performance.

For Savusavu: Don’t pack away those umbrellas just yet; occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected. Tomorrow: Minimum 23, Maximum 29. Sunday: Slight chance of rain and thunder.
For Nabouwalu: Occasional showers and thunder: it’s almost like they’re planning a concert! Tomorrow: Minimum 23, Maximum 29. Sunday: The show continues.
For Taveuni: Occasional rain with a delightful sprinkle of thunder to spice things up! Tomorrow: Minimum 23, Maximum 29. Sunday: The fun continues.
For Lau and Lomaiviti Group: A cloudy affair with a chance of some heavy rains and thunderstorms tonight! Tomorrow: Minimum 22, Maximum 29. Sunday: Repeat of the excitement!
For Kadavu: Yeah, cloudy with some surprises in store. Tomorrow: Minimum 22, Maximum 29. Sunday promises similar adventures!
For Rotuma: A low-pressure trough has found Rotuma, and it’s not shy about it—expect rain, heavy at times, with some thunder to keep things interesting! Tomorrow: Minimum 24, Maximum 30. Sunday: The rain keeps coming.
So, grab your umbrellas, put on your floaties, and keep an eye on the skies! Mother Nature has a sense of humor, and she’s in a playful mood this weekend!
