Fiji Weather Forecast: Heavy Showers, Isolated Thunderstorms and Flood Risk as Northeast Low-Pressure Trough Approaches

Situation: An east to southeast wind flow is keeping the weather in motion. A weak trough of low pressure to the northeast is expected to start influencing the country from tomorrow.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group
– Cloudy periods with some showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
– Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls likely from tomorrow.
– Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas.
– Elsewhere, fine apart from isolated brief afternoon or evening showers.
– Moderate east to southeast winds.
– Moderate seas.

Outlook for Monday: Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls expected. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas. Partly cloudy with afternoon or evening showers. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds. Moderate to rough seas.
